  3. 3. Western Ukraine overview <ul><li>Western oblasts of Ukraine are situated in the picturesque area of the Eastern Carpathian rich in a number of natural resources including coal and oil. The region has extensive areas of forests and agricultural lands. </li></ul><ul><li>The Western oblasts of Ukraine have food-processing, consumer goods, wood working facilities as well as productions of building materials and chemicals. The region's machine-building produces oil equipment, buses for public transportation, electronic equipment, automobiles and agricultural machinery. </li></ul><ul><li>Western Ukraine is among the national leaders in tourism - it has skiing resorts, numerous mineral water springs, beautiful architecture and landscapes. </li></ul><ul><li>Chernivtsi Oblast, Ivano- Frankovsk Oblast, Khmelnitsky Oblast, Lvov Oblast, Rivne Oblast, Ternopil Oblast, Volhyna Oblast (Capital Lutsk), Zakarpatya Oblast (Capital Uzgorod). </li></ul>

Central and Northern Ukraine overview <ul><li>Central and Northern parts of Ukraine are well known for their highly developed and diverse agriculture, which creates the basis for a variety of food processing productions. The region is also rich in assorted minerals including oil and natural gas as well as other minerals used in chemical products and building material manufacturing. </li></ul><ul><li>Considerable areas of forest make the region one of leaders in wood working and paper industry. Significant population of the region creates stable demand for locally produced consumer goods and electric and electronic appliances. </li></ul><ul><li>Other products of the region's machine building enterprises include agricultural and construction machinery, aircrafts, different production equipment and vehicles. </li></ul><ul><li>Cherkassy oblast, Chernigov oblast, Kiev the Capital City, Kirovograd oblast, Poltava oblast, Sumy oblast, Vinnitsa oblast, Zitomir oblast . </li></ul>

Southern Ukraine overview <ul><li>The main riches of the region of Southern Ukraine is its access to the Black Sea, mild climate and fertile soils as well as oil and gas deposits in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. </li></ul><ul><li>Therefore the region is a centre of marine transportation, shipbuilding, agriculture and oil and gas extraction. Oblasts of Southern Ukraine and the Republic of Crimea also have well developed tourism sector infrastructure that however still has numerous opportunities for further expansion. </li></ul><ul><li>Republic of Crimea (Capital-Simferopol), Kherson oblast, Nikolaev oblast, Odessa oblast (Towns: Sevastopol). </li></ul>
  6. 6. Eastern Ukraine overview <ul><li>Eastern Ukraine has one of the densest industrial concentrations in the world. It is where richest deposits of coal, iron ore and other mineral resources are found. The natural riches determined the leading positions of the region in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. </li></ul><ul><li>Eastern Ukraine is also the home for numerous scientific institutions with the results of their research being applied by the leading machine-building enterprises located in the region. </li></ul><ul><li>Though the East of Ukraine is famous worldwide for its heavy industries production of consumer goods and food products is also well developed in the region. </li></ul><ul><li>Dnipropetrovs'k Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, Lugansk Oblast, Zaporozhye Oblast. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Education System in Ukraine <ul><li>The higher education system comprises state-owned as well as private higher educational institutions. The network includes 979 higher educational institutions of I-IV accreditation levels (vocational and technical schools, colleges, institutions, academies, universities), among which 664 higher educational institutions of I-II levels of accreditation including 593 state-owned ones and other 71 with other forms of ownership training 528 thousand students. </li></ul><ul><li>The higher educational network of III-IV accreditation levels numbers 315 establishments including 223 state-owned ones. </li></ul><ul><li>The structure of higher education in Ukraine is build up in accordance with the structure of education of the world's higher developed countries which is defined by UNESCO, UN and other international organizations. </li></ul>
