FM 2010: How to find good players?
First of all I would like to say that yesterday’s quarterfinals were absolutely
fantastic. Especially Uruguay – Ghana. Therefore I want to devote this post to all
players of teams that got to the World Cup quarterfinals. Here are few photos of
them from Football Manager 2010 because this post is about good players:

I prefer to use Players search functionality when it’s necessary to buy a player

Search special search filters to find a player among those whose attribute values are
not hidden at current moment. There can be an interesting trick with player
search:
Interesting in the Web
Online Casino 1. Create a filter for some concrete position (let’s say DC, for
example).
FM 2009 Story
2. Choose view “Mental”.
Hull
3. Sort by Anticipation and look through first 20 players.
FM 2008 Stories
4. Sort by Concentration and look through first 20 players.
Arsenal
5,6,7…. and so on for each attribute important for DC.
Southampton
Wigan This method helps much. It’s really better than simple filters by attributes
because you loose good players having values less by 1 or 2 than your limits.
Discovering U21 national teams
Tedious but prospective approach to find good youngsters. Just go and checkout
every more or less competitive national team manually. Player by player.
In the end I would like to notice these 3 methods are enough for me. And of
course I don’t use Database Editor and some FM tools like Genius Scout. Just
because I am sure it spoils all pleasure from playing Football Manager 2010. If
you want to get a real delight from FM 2010 use only functions present in the
game itself without any other programs.
And now it’s time to ask you: what player search methods do you use? May be
your method will be helpful to me.

Vitaliy, great post! To be honest, I use all those methods my self and I
find them very useful. Thanks for the advice! Also, your blog is one of the
inspirations why I made my own blog so thank you! I also achieved back
to back promotions with Ledds like you and now I'm currently in Premier
league and just would do you recommend any players for me to buy?
Thanks!
mikeg2912 Says: 3 July 2010 17:43
I had back to back promotions with leeds finished mid table the year
after and was top of the league the following year to be pipped to the
post by MAN U my team currently is
Fabianski
Rosenior S Taylor Shawcross Easton
Milner Castillo Diaby Vela
Berg Benitez
Ive also got great depth people like james oshea snodgrass janczyk
shelvey rossi howson i would recommend christian benetiz he got 18
goals 9 assists on my game oshea got 17 assists 6 MOM and the only
reason i dropped him was needed another good leeds homegrown
player for champs league delph being to expensive, segundo castillo also
was a very good buy just seems to dominate the game regardless of
who he playing against dominated the game against inter away from
home nicked a 0-0 if you get jonjo shelvey early enough hes an utter
3. bargain! hope this helps ....... what you reckon vitaliy?

Wow Vitaly, you have a lot of patience to look for good players. Ex: Full
backs. I simply created a filter with the attributes they need (tackling,
pace, anticipation, etc.) and then instead of having 7/7, 8/8... I have 6/7,
7/8... or sometimes even 5/7, 6/8. Also there is an option that allows you
to decrease/increase all attributes by 1. I do this until I only have 20-30
players on the search screen.
You might be right that I can miss 2-4 good players because of this, but
now my team (Atalanta) has all 3,5* rating or more (except two guys)
and I managed to be league champion twice.
I don't want to critisise your methods; on the contrary, because you
have the patience to do it propely, but I am saying that this also works
kite well.
You're doing fine, hope you win the title (or at least qualify for
Champions League).
Cheers from Portugal

I too use the methods that you have mentioned, but i end up buying all
the best young players that start there careers, English or not, but then
they never fur fill their potential because they don't get enough game
time, now the game doesn't seem to have any good young players left,
except for barca where they don't want to leave. im bury 4th in the
prem, have the best squad in the league, but still cant pip the likes of
man u, liverpool, man c to the title, in year 2016
dwaipayan Says: 4 July 2010 17:19
gr8 post Vitaliy. I use the above three methods.
dwaipayan Says: 6 July 2010 08:22
Vitaliy, a question for u, dont u use da recommended players from the
backroom advice section? I use tht sometimes but very rarely depending
upon the attributes of the advising coach n that of the second opinion.
Vitaliy Mokosiy Says: 8 July 2010 08:08
dwaipayan,
the same about me. I use recommended players in rare case just
because they don't usually suit for my team
Nick Says: 13 July 2010 01:54
I scout by country and set the filter for age 21 at most, and then only
look at players with 3 star PA at least. I try sign 17 year old players and
develop them with high quality coaches. Not only is it generally cheaper
but it gives you home grown players.
