Expert Opinion 7.1 KORE Telematics The following interview was conducted in April 2014. Visiongain would like to thank Alex Brisbourne, COO and President at KORE Telematics for participation in this interview. 7.1.1 KORE Telematics Internet of Things Portfolio Visiongain: Please give us a little background about your company and your position in the Internet of Things value chain. Alex Brisbourne: KORE is the largest global M2M service provider offering machine-to-machine connectivity through GSM, CDMA and satellite data services. The Company provides solutions for M2M connectivity including its own business management platform for customers. KORE’s network is state-of-the-art with round-the-clock customer support and self-healing network capabilities. Technology companies that have a need for connectivity to enable communication, utilize KORE’s global and reliable network to provide seamless connectivity. 7.1.2 Key Trends & Developments in the Internet of Things Market Visiongain: What would you say are the key trends and recent developments in the Internet of Things infrastructure ecosystem and why? Alex Brisbourne: With the Internet-of-Things constantly growing and developing, there have been many trends that have emerged recently, with one of the largest being globalization. Globalization has been increasing in the last few years among companies in the space and is now a mainstream concept. With more and more applications and devices needing connectivity in remote and emerging markets, there has been an increased need for seamless and global connections. In addition, we have seen a growing number of devices with higher data usage, leading to a greater emphasis placed on analytics and data collection. This elicits a shift that places an increased focus on more data and advanced analytics, which enables applications and devices to become more intelligent components of an enterprise infrastructure. Lastly, there has been an increase in the adoption of M2M as a failover for primary connectivity backup as a result of economic factors. Even large scale integrators are now utilizing cellular connectivity as a backup to hard-line connectivity, especially in the case of a natural disaster or disrupted service.
