  2. 2. Consumers fail to connect when celebs endorse too many brands<br />“Over-exposing a celebrity can have its ill-effects. The consumer starts losing focus and the communication (of different brands) gets blurred. The consumer fails to connect with any brand”.<br />But brand ambassadors such as Bachchan or Dhoni are rare species. And that explains why most companies with big advertising budgets are in a hurry to rope one of them to feature in their commercials. “The idea is to outdo competition in terms of attracting eyeballs, even if the costs are high” <br />

Apple launches TV model<br />Apple Inc introduced a new version of Apple TV on Wednesday with shows from just two networks, underscoring its struggles to win over a media industry worried about losing control over the pricing of its programs.<br />The new $99 Apple TV will allow users to rent TV shows such as “Glee” and “Modern Family” for 99 cents thanks to partnerships with Walt Disney Co’s ABC and News Corp’s Fox.<br />

Maruti, Tata Motors & Skoda set to drive into MUV Segment<br />The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India, largest automaker Tata Motors and Volkswagen’s Skoda Auto India plan to enter the crossover market, the fastest growing segment in the passenger vehicle market. Tata Motors will roll out its Tata Aria, developed from the Xover concept, in the last quarter of 2010, while Maruti’s first crossover based on its R3 concept and Skoda Roomster will hit the Indian road next year, according to industry executives familiar with company plans. <br />

RishadPremji is new strategy boss at Wipro<br />RishadPremji, one of the heirs to AzimPremji’sneraly $17 b empire, will get a chance to prove his management mettle at the top echelons of the Wipro management after he was appointed chief strartegy officer of India’s third-biggest software service exporter.<br />
  6. 6. Nokia Is India’s most trusted brand, again<br />Nokia emerged as a India’s most trusted brand for the third year in a row, topping a field of 300 product and service brands. Colgate retained its No.2 position, while Lux took the No.3 spot in the tenth edition of the Brand Equity most trusted brand survey(2010)<br />

Six telcos to be fined for missing rollout deadlines<br />The telecom department is set to impose penalties on six new players for delayed rollout of mobile services.<br />The latest entrants include Videocon, Sistema, Uninor, Loop, S Tel and Etisalat DB. Aircel Cellular, which got licences for some circles before 2008, may also be penalised for delays.<br />

The Drift of the Maggi<br />Maggi instant noodles, foods major Nestle’s flagship brand that has dominated Indian instant noodles market for nearly three decades, is losing market share on a monthly basis to newer entrants such as GlaxoSmithKline’s(GSK) HorlicksFoodles, Hindustan Unilever’s (HUL) Knorr soupy noodles, Big Baazar’s Tasty Treat,Top Ramen and several other smaller palyers.<br />

Panasonic to invest Rs 1,400 crore in India<br />Electronics consumer durables major Panasonic India plans to invest around Rs.1,400 crore over the next three years to establish itself as a home appliances leader in the country.<br />The company will spend amount on setting up a technopark in North India and establishing the brand as a home appliance major besides other technical operations.<br />

Hyundai SUV Santa Fe to roll out in October<br />Hoping to be third time lucky, country’s second largest carmaker, Hyundai Motor India, is launching sports utility vehicle Santa Fe in an attempt to capture a slice of the highly competitive SUV market.<br />To be priced in the range of 22-24 lakh, Hyundai is targetting the festive season in October for launch.<br />
