      Creative bicycle corp. FOUNDED IN 1976, CREATIVE BICYCLE CORP. IS THE
      LEADING MANUFACTURER OF HIGH-END BICYCLES, SELLING MORE THEN 20 MODELS
      IN THE UNITED STATES. IT PROCURES SPARE PARTS FROM VARIOUS VENDORS AND
      ASSEMBLES THEM. CREATIVE BICYCLE CORP. IS REGARDED AS THE BICYCLE
      INDUSTRY’S LEADING INNOVATOR.
      IT NOT ONLY USES INNOVATON IN MANUFACTURING AND DESIGINING BICYCLES
      BUT ALSO USES INNOVATION IN ITS BUSINESS PROCESS. IN THE YEAR 1976,
      WHEN THE CREATIVE BICYCLES CORP. ENTERED INTO THE BUSINESS, T
      HERE WERE SEVERAL COMPETITORS. MOST OF THEM WERE WELL ESTABLISHED.
      EVEN THEN, WITH ITS INNOVATIVE THINKING TOWARDS IMPLEMENTING THE
      LATEST TECHNOLOGIES, CREATIVE BICYCLES CORP. BECAME THE LEADER IN THE
      BICYCLE INDUSTRY IN 1979.
      To understand the market trend and act accordingly, it had
      identified the value of maintaining good relations with customers.
      For this it had implemented a customer relationship management{CRM}.
      Within a year CRM system HAD helped the organization's profit.
    • What is the role of the production department?:
      The main role of production is to turn inputs (raw materials)
      into outputs (finished goods). Outputs refer to a finished product or
      service and inputs are the materials that are needed to
      manufacture certain goods. When a business completes this process
      they are able to achieve customer satisfaction by producing
      products that are ready to be used and fit for purpose.
      The production department is responsible for ensuring quality
      achieved in each item produced. They will need to carry out
      inspections and implement suitable quality initiatives. This is one of
      the major duties of this department because if mistakes are made
      on products, customer satisfaction will be decreased or if products
      are ruined during the production process It means that the company
      will have to throw "bad" products away (creating waste).
      Both aspects will lead the company to a loss of profit.
      Quality assurance will have to be carried out everyday on a
      number of occasions to ensure that the production process is working
      efficiently and effectively. For example Coca-cola will carry out
      approximately 200 inspection per day to ensure quality is being
      achieved and also to make sure all equipment is running well.
      Total productivity = input quantity / output quantity
    • Aims and functions of production department:
      Production is the functional area responsible for turning inputs into
      finished outputs through a series of production processes.
      The Production Manager is responsible for making sure that
      raw materials are provided and made into finished goods effectively.
      He or she must make sure that work is carried out smoothly,
      and must supervise procedures for making work more efficient and more
      enjoyable.

      Problems of the production department:
      The production department manages their processes by using an
      information system. This information system manages and monitors the
      manufacturing processes. However, there are few limitations in the
      current information system. These are:
      Analyzing information:
      The current information system provides reports for most of the
      processes.
      However, these reports are not in an easy-to-analyze format.
      To solve this problem, the managers prepare the reports manually by
      using Microsoft excel and then send them across by using e-mails.
      This takes a lot of time and also creates version problems.
      Sharing information:
      The production department does not have a platform where the
      Employees can share information and can wok in a collaborative
      manner. In addition, the information is not accessible to the
      relevant employees from anywhere and at anytime.
    • Solutions:
      An organization involves various entities such as employees, customers,
      promoters business partners, and investors. The organisation can grow only if it caters to the needs of all the entities associated with it. The needs of these entities can be listed as:
      Customer want to know about the products and services
      offered by the organization.
      2. Employees want to have the round clock access to the relevant Information needed to perform their daily tasks.
      Promoters and executive management want to monitor the
      performance of the organization.
      To compare the organisation’s performance with that of the competitors.theywant to know about the turnover, revenue, growth rate, and future scope of the organization.
      The business partners want to know the details regarding the business oppournities.
      The business partners also want to have the information regarding the formalities for getting the business.
    • Discussion board:
      Discussion boards provide a forum through which the visitors of a site can
      exchange ideas on the topics of their interest. Some sites require users to
      register themselves to participate in a discussion.
      For example, the web site www.ebay.com .com uses discussion board to buy
      and sell products under different categories.
      A discussion board allows users to participate in a discussion of their
      choice, to create a new topic of discussion, and to view the posts of the
      other users.
       
      Effective communication is an essential component of organizational
      success whether it is at the interpersonal, intergroup, intergroup, organizational, or external levels. it helps employees to share ideas, express view, and exchange information. It is a process of transmitting information, ideas, thoughts, opinions and plans between various segments
      of an organization. Sharing views and information is important in an environment where collaboration is required.
    • Surveys:
      Surveys are used to collect data such as feedback for a newly
      launched products. Surveys also help to gather opinions of
      different people on different subjects. Surveys include set of
      questions. These questions can be of two types.
      Open ended question:
      They do not have a definite answer. Such type of questions provides
      users with the oppournity to answer the question in their own words.
      Close ended questions:
      They have a finite answer. This question can be used for statistical
      analysis. These question are difficult to write as the choices must
      include all the possible answers.
      Surveys are created for gathering information from the employees
      through a set of questions. Therefore, it must be responded as to meet
      the objectives.
      A high response rate for a survey is a must in order to accurately
      meet the objective of the survey. A survey with a low response rate
      does not enable the surveyor to come to a conclusion.
      It is essential for the organization to take the feedback from its
      employees regarding the existing business processes. This helps
      the organization in understanding the viewpoint and requirement of
      the employees. in addition, the feedback helps to analyze and improve
      upon the services that are provided by the company.
      Surveys that can be used to gather data regarding customer satisfaction.
    • Form library:
      Organization need to collect, store, manage and share business data
      effectively. This helps in improving collaboration and decision making
      within the organization. For gathering, storing and sharing business
      data effectively the portal sites contain such components like
      form library.
      A form library is where you can create, collect, update and manage
      forms. Library keeps tracks of different versions of the forms.
      A form which is library based on a form template which can be created
      by using Microsoft info path.
       
      Organizations uses several types of forms to document and share
      information. These forms are created by using tools such as Microsoft
      InfoPath. These forms need to be placed at a central repository from
      they can be accessed easily and quickly. In addition, the repository must
      provide feature such as sorting and filtering to enable the user to
      quickly get the desired information.
    • Dashboard:
      A dashboard is a web page template that allows you to assemble
      and display information from disparate sources such as reports and
      charts.
       
      A dashboard is a user interface that organizes and presents the
      real-time information in an understandable format. It presents
      information in the form of charts, graphs, and tables.
      Presenting information in the form of charts, graphs, and tables helps
      to reduce the data analysis effort and time.
       
      It helps to present, view, and understand the trends related to various
      aspects such as business growth, sales, country’s development,
      population growth, and stock markets.
       
      Organizations strive to survive and succeed in the tough
      business competition. For this, organizations need to regularly
      monitor and analyze their performance. This monitoring and analysis
      becomes easy if the information regarding performance such as
      business facts and figures, and business data is available in the
      form of graphs, charts and comparison charts, at a single interface.
    • Wiki sites:
      A wiki site is a platform for a community to share and brainstorm ideas.
      It is a creative way to start a website about any topic of your interest.
      It allows visitors of the website to join together and create a
      place where they can keep tracks of the latest happenings in
      interested topics.
       
      The wiki site enables visitors to quickly and easily add, edit,
      and link web pages to record any type of information. These pages
      can be linked together by using a keywords. As web pages are edited,
      an edit-history is recorded, so that you can restore that previous
      content if necessary.
       
    • Announcements:
       
      an announcement is used to post common, important, or urgent messages
      to the employees on a website. It also works as a reminder for the
      employees. These announcements are posted for a specific period.
      Every announcement expires on a chosen date from the calendar.
