  • 2. What is Okami? • Exploration/action RPG • Designed by Clover (Capcom). • Based on Japanese lore and art. • Released in 2006 by PS2. • Highly acclaimed by critics. • Did not sell well (220,000 copies). • Won numerous awards. • Remade for Wii in 2008.
  • 3. What does Okami means? • Play-on word. • In Japanese: – Great God – Wolf
  • 4. Plot Summary • Epic quest of good v. evil. • Evil released in Nippon. – Defeated by Shiranui. • Shiranui statue reborn as sun-goddess Amaterasu. • Issun accompanies Ammy. • Restore land and defeat evil monsters.
  • 5. The Main Characters
  • 6. Gameplay: Weapons • Three weapons: rosary, reflectors, graive. • Equip 2: main & sub. • Rosary: weak, fast distance whips; bullets. • Reflectors: close ranged, med. attack/speed; shield. • Graive: ranged, powerful attack; spear.

  • 8. Gameplay: Boosts • Dojo: new/more powerful attack boost. • Items: monsters, merchant shops, treasure chests. • Praise: certain sidequests (feeding animals, etc.). – Boost stats (health, ink).
  • 9. Gameplay: Celestial Brush • Unique battle mechanic. • 13 brush techniques with multiple uses. • Uses: – Battling. – Doing mini-quests/games. – Restore land. – Create humor • Upgrade brush technique.
