Thinking for a Change: 11 Ways
Highly Successful People Approach
Life andWork by John C. Maxwell
More People Need To Think Productively And This Book Shows You How!
Now in paperback, New York Times bestselling author and expert on
leadership John C. Maxwell explores the concept that success is really just
a frame of mind. Good thinking. Its the one thing all successful people
have in common. People who achieve their dreams understand the critical
relationship between their level of thinking and their level of progress-and
they know that when thinking is limited, so is potential. Now, John C.
Maxwell explores this idea and identifies the specific skills people need to
make their potential for success explode into results. From focused and
creative thinking to thinking for the big picture or the bottom line, he
provides examples of effective thinking for every situation. This book
doesnt tell readers what to think, it tells them how to think. After all,
success is as simple as changing your mind.
Personal Review: Thinking for a Change: 11 Ways Highly
Successful People Approach Life andWork by John C. Maxwell
In my humble opinion, "Thinking For A Change" is one of John Maxwell's
best titles so far. He has written several books, of which a few stand head
and shoulders above the rest. One thing I liked about this title was that
Maxwell mentioned his background and lessons learned while as a pastor.
Another thing I liked was some references to Bible verses to support a
point or thought. I believe in some earlier titles Maxwell had strayed some
from his background - trying to reach a larger audience while watering
down his Christian background. As such, some titles appeared to nothing
more than humanistically-sounded and grounded thoughts and principles
almost devoid of God. Others may disagree with me and that is fine with
me!
Now, on to some good points about "Thinking For A Change". Maxwell
covers several important points such as:
1. The value of good thinking.
2. 11 specific thinking skills for someone who wants to be successful.
3. Some facets of the 11 skills: being unselfish, question popular thinking,
creative thinking, realistic thinking, strategic thinking, etc.
A great read, the narrative flows smoothly and is a joy to read. Maxwell's
writing style is upbeat and encouraging. As you read the book, you can
sense Maxwell's passion to help people with their leadership/servantship
skills. Also, Maxwell peppers the book with quotes he credits to other
people instead of "stealing" the credit for himself.
Highly recommended. Be encouraged and challenged by the title!
