The Walking Dead Volume 1: Days
Gone Bye by Tony Moore
Great Not Just For Genre Fans, But Anyone Who Likes A Good Story
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the
dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has
crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no
cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this
terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had
never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his
family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find
his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally
begin living.
Personal Review: The Walking Dead Volume 1: Days Gone Bye
by Tony Moore
I picked this book up randomly by instinct. I finished it the night I bought it,
because It was amazing! Zombie stories usually aren't well done, and my
exception is Snyder's Dawn of the Dead. This book, however, surpasses
all of them, and now im begging for more blood.
Why is it "amazing"
-Black and White. The artwork and mood of the black and white is
unbeatable. If they make a film it has to be the same.
-Rick. Awesome protagonist. I could read his dialogue all day.
-Plot and Characters. The story is very original and offers a thought
process from an author who extremely cares for the material. You must
read the before notes.
-Pacing. At first I was a little thrown-off by the skipped pieces of time, but
they really are self-explanatory. Its more of a collaboration of events,
rather than a word for word, second for second story. Beware, because
this could turn you off or turn you on. For me it made an intriguing
difference that I respected.
I wanted to start a new series. I got really lucky that I found this book. It
may have mindless zombies on the cover, but the story is generated from
the brain of a genius.
