This is a quintessential knitter's book. It is wonderful in all aspects. It is filled with stories, vignettes, patterns and knitting history and mythology.
If you're looking for a good pattern, whether a piece of clothing or a festive lantern, you'll find it here. If you're looking to find out more about knitting's social history or stories about knitters, you'll find that as well. There are resources galore and the book is fun to open up and read - - again and again.
There is a wonderful section on color and how colors can be varied in one pattern for very different results. The mystery of the steek is unveiled enough for me to actually try one.
I plan on knitting the grocery bag, the boy's skater sweater, the cardi cozy, the knitted plaid shawl, the green coat, the Kiki Mariko Rug, the Liberty Throw, and the Baby Dotty. When and if I come up for air, I'll have a wonderful set of gifts for the loved ones in my life. I'll also have this book to look at again and again and a stash of wool left over from these projects which I'm sure I can put to good use.
Happy Knitting to all of you!!
