`Knock `Em Dead' is one of the best books on job hunting ever. Did not understand job interviews until I read this book. I pull out the book and reread it every time I am going to prepare for an interview. It is that valuable for job hunting, because it is a how to book telling you how to prepare to succeed.
Have recommended `Knock `Em Dead' for years to people in transition, and bought several copies to give away. Literally it is the first book I recommend to job hunters if they know what job they want.
I recommend `What Color is Your Parachute' because of the exercises to know yourself. It is much better to know where you want to live, how much you need to make, and what your priorities are before you find just any job. Instead find a job that fits you well and you can thrive. It also reminds you there are games played by people in the process, and not to take those personally.

If you are considering or in a transition, I recommend `Adapt! How to Survive and Thrive in the Changing World of Work'. It is a collection of career stories, how to's, and advanced techniques for finding good careers. The advantage of Adapt! is you get more than one person's viewpoint as it was written by 13 successful business owners, coaches, and professionals with real world experience in different industries. You will learn something that will give you an advantage in job hunting or starting a new career. I am a co-author, but I read the book to learn. My co-authors have a lot of experience and we want to give back to you.

Remember, the most critical thing is your attitude. All three books recommended here will teach you, but your attitude controls how successful you will be through a transition. Good luck and God bless.
