Beach Music: A Novel by Pat Conroy - Presentation Transcript

    1. Beach Music: A Novel by Pat Conroy A Glimpse Into South Carolina Life PAT CONROY, America’s preeminent storyteller, delivers a sweeping novel of lyric intensity and searing truth–the story of Jack McCall, an American expatriate in Rome, scarred by tragedy and betrayal. His desperate desire to find peace after his wife’s suicide draws him into a painful, intimate search for the one haunting secret in his family’s past that can heal his anguished heart. Spanning three generations and two continents, from the contemporary ruins of the American South to the ancient ruins of Rome, from the unutterable horrors of the Holocaust to the lingering trauma of Vietnam, Beach Music sings with life’s pain and glory. It is another masterpiece in PAT CONROY’S legendary list of beloved novels. Personal Review: Beach Music: A Novel by Pat Conroy I've lived my 26 years not traveling any further East in the United States then Minnesota. I'm a Northwest boy, born and breed, and love it here. That being said, Pat Conroy's Beach Music gave me a fine glimpse of typical (?) life in South Carolina. But that was such a small theme in this book full of love, hate, hardships and relationships. The bond between the main character - Jack - and his daughter is something that I will be shooting for when I'm a father. Their relationship
    2. was something I thoroughly enjoyed reading about and gave me some ideas as to how I would like to father a child. I really enjoyed the writing style. There was enough back story for each character and each of the characters were unique and memorable. This book also highlighted something that's very important in my life: the need to keep in touch with childhood friends. A childhood friend is vastly different than a friend you've made in college, through work, etc. You grew up experiencing life with these friends, maybe even branching out and not being as much in touch with them growing up as you would like to have been... but in the end of the day, these childhood friends of yours know you as intimately as individuals who see you on a daily basis. Very much recommend this book! For More 5 Star Customer Reviews and Lowest Price: Beach Music: A Novel by Pat Conroy 5 Star Customer Reviews and Lowest Price!
