A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink - Presentation Transcript

    1. A Whole New Mind: Why Right- Brainers Will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink A Whole New Mind Lawyers. Accountants. Software engineers. That’s what Mom and Dad encouraged us to become. They were wrong. Gone is the age of “left- brain” dominance. The future belongs to a different kind of person with a different kind of mind: designers, inventors, teachers, storytellers—creative and empathic “right-brain” thinkers whose abilities mark the fault line between who gets ahead and who doesn’t. Drawing on research from around the advanced world, Daniel Pink outlines the six fundamentally human abilities that are essential for professional success and personal fulfillment—and reveals how to master them. From a laughter club in Bombay, to an inner-city high school devoted to design, to a lesson on how to detect an insincere smile, A Whole New Mind takes listeners to a daring new place, and offers a provocative and urgent new way of thinking about a future that has already arrived. “This book is a miracle. Completely original and profound.” — Tom Peters, author of In Search of Excellence
    2. “A very important, convincingly argued and mind-altering book.” — Po Bronson, author of What Should I Do With My Life? Personal Review: A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink I am pleased that a book has finally been published showing the importance of right brain thinking. Being that I am an artist, left-handed, and seemed to have always had a different idea on things, this book has made it clear what I am all about and how difficult it has been in the past living in a left brain thinking world. It has now been made crystal clear to me why I am the way I am and why it has not always been a good fit for me in different careers that I pursued in the past. When I graduated from high school, I wanted very much at that point in my life to pursue an education at an art school. My father said that would not get me anywhere and to take typing or business classes. He would not pay for art school but because it was so ingrained in me to be creative, I continually developed and studied it on my own. I'm glad to think that the world could now be on the verge of seeing how important creativity is and how important play and getting more meaning out of life is. It is not about going along with the crowd in a highly structured environment but to strike out and think creatively and solve problems.
