39 Clues is an awesome book to read. It has many exciting adventures.
There are seven teams in 39 Clues. Dan Cahill is 11 years old, and he is the brother of Amy Cahill. He is funny and he's good at math. Amy is 14 years old. She is smart and intelligent and uses her knowledge to figure out clues. The Kabras are brother and sister and are also 11 and 14, and they are mean to Dan and Amy. They are rich and use their money to help them in the contest. Then we have Alistair Oh, who is a Korean man who seems to have a lot of connections, which helps in the contest. Then there are the Holts. They are a family of six, one of which is their dog, and they are mean and athletic. Another team is the Starling triplets, but the three of them are out of the competition because they got hurt in a bombing. Irina Spasky is a woman who was a former Russian spy, and she's very dangerous. Jonah Wizard is a famous and cool teen, and he's been on TV and has many fans.
The story begins in Massachusetts, in Grace Cahill's mansion and Dan and Amy Cahill's hometown. Grace Cahill dies which starts a clue hunt. Grace's will gives a choice: 39 clues or $1 million dollars. The teams gather and 7 teams take clues, but the rest take the money. Grace Cahill's mansion burns down after they find the clue. The clue leads them to Ben Franklin's hometown of Philadelphia, and they go to the Franklin Institute. In the Franklin Institute, a bomb happens, and they find the next clue that leads to Paris, where the Lucian stronghold is. They also visit the Eiffel Tower and the Catacombs in Paris. Then in Paris, they find another clue which leads them to Vienna, Austria. They have many dangerous adventures.
39 Clues is in modern-day times because they visit places like the Franklin Institute in Philly, and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. You can also tell it's modern-day, because they have transportation like cars, planes, and trains. They also talk about people from the past like Ben Franklin and Mozart.
39 Clues is captivating because they get in a fire and a bomb, and a chasing. I would recommend it to children, teens, and adults. If you are an older sibling, I would recommend you read it to your younger sibling.
