Vesper Marine offer commercial operators an option to customize the AIS WatchMate systems to meet their specific needs, this includes:

Messaging from the bridge via an AISWatchMate®

Dedicated messages to a vessel can be enabled using an Addressed Message (AIS Message 12). This allows textual data to be sent to a vessel using the standard AIS communication protocol.
To provide broadcast messaging functionality, AIS Message 14 is used. This is also defined in the standard AIS communication protocol and is referred to as a Broadcast Message.
Acknowledgement by the vessel is achieved by the user hearing an alert, reading the alert message and selecting a response option (i.e. “Acknowledge”, “Will Comply” etc). These responses can be customized.
