    • The Valley Kids Speech 151 Winter 2009
    • Get Fit or Get Lost The game where it pays to LOSE (2-8 players or 2-4 teams) Ages 12 to 53
    • Objective To be the first to finish your workout and “Hit the Showers”!
    • Game Box Contents Game Board Workout Deck 8 Game Pieces 1 Jump Rope 1 Pair of Inflatable Dumbbells (water-filled) 1-minute Timer (sand hourglass) 1 six-sided Die “ Play at your own risk” warning/disclaimer
    • Getting Started
        • Game can be played player against player or team against team.
        • Choose your game piece; put all game pieces on the Gym Entrance (Start) square.
        • Roll dice to see who goes first (highest roll); play continues to the left.
    • The Workout Deck
        • Contains cards that tell you what “workout” is for your turn
        • If playing as a team, all team members must complete the “workout” before the timer runs out.
        • Each card contains a workout for Beginners, Intermediates, and Experts (i.e. # of reps for exercise would be increased for each level)
        • Some cards help journey to fitness (such as “Lost 5 Pounds Toward Your Goal Weight, go ahead 1 space”)
        • Some cards may set players back (“Ate 3 Cheeseburgers, go back 3 spaces”)
        • Beware the dreaded “Injury Cards” (lose a turn or worse, e.g. “Torn ACL, return to Gym Entrance”)
    • The Workout Card Jumping Jacks * Beginner: 20 in a minute * Intermediate: 40 in a minute * Expert: 60 in a minute
    • The Injury Cards Injury You didn’t stretch properly before you reached for the newspaper and pulled a muscle. Go back 3 spaces. Injury During an aggressive game of Scrabble, you tore your rotator cuff. Go back to “Gym Entrance”.
    • The Workouts
        • Jumping Rope
        • Sit-ups
        • Push-ups
        • Jumping Jacks
        • Sprints
        • Squats
        • Biceps Curls
        • Triceps Curls
        • Stretching and More…
    • Rules of the Game
        • All players start at the Gym Entrance
        • The first player to go draws a Workout Card and reads the exercise aloud (the “Warm-Up” exercise is done at the Beginner level on the card).
        • Timer starts and player does the exercise on the card before time runs out.
        • If completed in time, player rolls dice and moves that many spaces. Play then continues to the left.
        • If player is successful on the first try, can opt to go down any of the 3 paths (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert).
        • If Warm-Up exercise not successfully completed, on their next successful Workout, they automatically have to go down the Beginner Path.
    • Water Breaks
        • Players must stop at each Water Break space, even if the roll would take them past one.
        • On their next turn, the Workout should be done at the “Beginner” level.
        • If successfully completed, the player can then choose which path to proceed along to the next Water Break.
        • If not successfully completed on first try, player must automatically go down the Beginner path upon successful completion of Workout.
    • Winning the Game To win Get Fit or Get Lost , the player must reach the end of the board and successfully complete one final exercise before he or she can “Hit the Showers”.
