  • 1. A Webquest designed for 4°ESO for English as a Foreign Language AIDS
  • 2. INTRODUCTION It's easy to think that AIDS is something for other people to worry about - gay people, drug users or people who have frequent sexual relations. This is wrong - all teenagers, whoever they are, wherever they live need to take the threat of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, seriously. To be able to protect yourself, you need to know the facts, and know how to avoid becoming infected. HIV is a big problem for young people, as well as adults. In 2007, it is estimated that there were 2 million people under 15 living with HIV . How much do you know about AIDS ? Before starting the tasks, the four reporters should watch this video about HIV and AIDS http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v =EYXHov3dCNI
  • 3. PROCESS
    • In the following Webquest, you will use the power of teamwork (4 reporters) and the abundant resources on the Internet chosen by your teacher. Each reporter will choose a role and research some information, then you will collaborate and complete the tasks. You will carry out two tasks .
  • 4. PROCESS
    • Task 1: Make an oral presentation using PowerPoint that includes information about AIDS that everybody should know :
    • What is AIDS? What are the facts and statistics? What are the symptoms? How is it transmitted? How can we prevent AIDS? What is the treatment? What is AIDS World Day?
  • 5. PROCESS
    • Task 2: Practice and then create your own printable quiz
    • Each reporter has a go and tests his knowledge of two quizzes, prints the result of the quizzes and gives it to the teacher.
  • 6. PROCESS
    • Then you will choose questions from any of AVERT's eight quizzes and design your very own quiz. Start by selecting any quiz, and add questions to build your own quiz on the right.
    • Then just click print to create your printable quiz! In class, another group of reporters will have to answer the 20 questions of the quiz you have prepared!
  • 7. TASKS
    • Task 1: In order to make an oral presentation on PowerPoint about AIDS, each reporter will write down relevant information. Then you will analyse the information you have selected, discuss, organize it and make a presentation using Powerpoint including photos.
