REQUEST TO PARTICIPATE IN QUALITATIVE
RESEARCH ABOUT OPEN INNOVATION
As part of my Master’s thesis (Business Administration at the Free
University of Amsterdam) I am looking for organizations that are
engaged in open innovation programs and who wish to participate in
my qualitative research in the month of June 2009. Organizations
that:
a) are currently engaged in an open innovation project; or;
b) have completed an open innovation project.
The research focuses on the motives of organizations to adopt open
innovation next to their traditional innovation process, and what
their expectations/perceived value are of the open innovation
program. The fact of the matter is that it is not always clear what the
motives of organizations are to have open innovation. And are the
expectations being met when the project is evaluated? Insight in the
Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
motives and expectations of organizations is needed to assess the
practical purpose of open innovation and judge it on its merits.
For the research interviews will be conducted (at your office or over
the telephone) with the length of 30 to 60 minutes, preferably with
the innovation manager of your organization. All information will be

dealt with confidentially. In return for you cooperation, your Master Business Administration
organization will obtain a copy of the report after the completion of
the research.
