Today, you will learn to…. <ul><li>Find your eID </li></ul><ul><li>Create your password </li></ul><ul><li>Access your email account </li></ul><ul><li>Log into eServices </li></ul><ul><li>Use eServices to view your V number, administrative holds, and grades </li></ul><ul><li>Pay your student accounting bill </li></ul><ul><li>Use eServices to update your address, phone number and emergency contact information </li></ul>
  3. 3. Finding your eID <ul><li>Click “Go to the eID Finder” </li></ul><ul><li>Enter your V number (on your VCU acceptance letter) and your birthday </li></ul>
  4. 4. Creating your Password <ul><li>Choose a password that meets the following rules: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Between 7-24 characters long </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Contain at least 1 CAPITAL & 1 lowercase letter </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Contain at least 1 number </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Contain at least 4 different characters (e.g. A1a1a1a is invalid) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Can NOT begin or end with a number </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Can NOT contain any special characters (do not use @ * ! , etc.) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>EXAMPLE PASSWORD: VCU123vcu </li></ul><ul><li>DO NOT set up the password help questions today. You can do that later. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Accessing your email <ul><li>From the VCU homepage, click “E-mail” at the top of the page. </li></ul><ul><li>Note: The eID followed by @vcu.edu represents your VCU email address. </li></ul><ul><li>It is VERY important that you check your VCU email regularly!! </li></ul>

What is eServices? <ul><li>eServices is a website that VCU students use to: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>View administrative holds </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>View student account information </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Make payments </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>View their class grades </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>View their class schedule </li></ul></ul>

  14. 14. Viewing your V number <ul><li>If you forget your V number, you can find it listed on the eServices Main Menu webpage. </li></ul>

Payment Methods Accepted @ VCU: <ul><li>Pay online or in person at the Cashier’s Office in the 1st floor of Harris Hall </li></ul><ul><li>Check (or e-check online) </li></ul><ul><li>Money Order </li></ul><ul><li>Cash </li></ul><ul><li>Credit Card: MasterCard, Discover and American Express </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A nonrefundable convenience fee of 2.75% is charged for all credit/debit card payments. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Electronic Payment/Wire Transfer </li></ul><ul><ul><li>See Student Accounting website for instructions </li></ul></ul>

Paying your Student Bill Online <ul><li>Select the &quot;Student&quot; Tab </li></ul><ul><li>Select the &quot;Student Accounts&quot; option </li></ul><ul><li>Select the &quot;Make a Payment&quot; option </li></ul><ul><li>Select the &quot;Payments&quot; tab along the top of the payment site </li></ul><ul><li>Select the &quot;Pay&quot; option under the Actions headline </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t forget to LOG OUT when finished </li></ul>

What is a “Hold”? <ul><li>A HOLD is an administrative block that prevents students from registering for classes and/or accessing their student records. </li></ul><ul><li>Holds cause negative consequences for your immigration status. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Example: Holds prevent you from getting a travel signature on your I-20/DS-2019 or a letter of good standing. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>To remove holds, students must contact the department that placed the hold (the “originator”). </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Example: Student Health Services, Student Accounting, Immigration, International Admissions </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The Global Education Office CANNOT remove holds from other departments. </li></ul>

  21. 21. Viewing Holds <ul><li>eServices will indicate which department is the “originator” of the hold. </li></ul>
  22. 22. Sign Up for Text Message Alerts <ul><li>Click “Sign up for VCU Text Message Alerts” & follow instructions to receive immediate information on your cell phone about campus emergencies! </li></ul>

Update Personal Information <ul><li>Click the Personal Information Tab </li></ul><ul><li>Keep the following information updated in eServices: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>ADDRESS </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>PHONE NUMBER </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>EMERGENCY CONTACTS </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Any time your address changes, you also need to notify Immigration Services!! </li></ul>
