  • 2. Process• In this slide show I will be showcasing mymagazine template concepts for my front coverand analysing my responses from my musicaldemographic; the Country music fan base (ViaFacebook country music fan pages). Also I willutilise the responses received and evaluate howI can integrate some of the feedback into myfinal magazine. I will also select a templatebased upon audience responses as a guidelinefor the final construction of my magazine.
  • 3. TemplatesTemplate(Traditionalmagazine frontcover) 1AlternativeTemplate 2AlternativeTemplate 3AlternativeTemplate 4
  • 4. Template OneDescription: This is a traditional type of style forthe front cover of a magazine, with two bannerslocated at the top and bottom along with themasthead placed in the top centre of themagazine, a main central image along withvarious articles placed around it.Responses: I received mainly positive feedbackconcerning the layout of the magazine front coverwith people saying (via Facebook country fanpages) “It looks professional” and “similar tomagazines I have seen.” However I did havesome negative criticism with respondents saying“Seems bit too empty” and “the guy in the middleneeds to be bigger”.
  • 5. Template TwoDescription: This is an alternative template tothe traditional layout as the top banner has beenremoved but still showcases itself as a modernmagazine (according to my existing text analysisresearch of the codes & conventions etc).Responses: Responses were similar to that ofTemplate One which held a traditional magazinelook with similar positive comments andfeedback (hence no quotations) but did receivenegative feedback as a respondent was saying“Its looks too flashy with the comic pow sign, trying too hard”
  • 6. Template ThreeDescription: This magazine templatealternative was designed solely to go againstthe codes and conventions of a traditionalmagazine via the earpiece placed on the topleft as opposed to right (according to myexisting text analysis), the missing bottombanner and the masthead placed right at thebottom left which is rarely seen in magazineswhich I have analysed in my previousresearch.Responses: As expected I received majorityof feedback being negative “Generallyawkward magazine cover”, “Good try but themagazine looks amateur and weird” with onepositive response “I like how its different”,according to my responses this was the worsttemplate out of the four.
  • 7. Template FourDescription: This magazine cover templatewas made so it could break the codes andconventions of traditional magazine coversbut not on the scale of template three via theearpiece located at the bottom right and thetop banner being vertical added to thehorizontal banner to create a L shape banner.Responses: Due to the more subtleapproach to the breaking of the codes andconventions it not the most disliked templatebut the second most disliked template withmajority being mixed between negativecriticism and positive such as “Looks greatbut spaces can be filled up a bit more” and“Everything is well suited to a magazine frontcover but the layout of some features seemsa bit deformed too me.”
  • 8. Evaluation Of ResponsesUsing my analysis of the responses received I feel that “Template 1” is the bestmagazine front cover template to follow through with as it seems to appeal andcater to the country demographic preferences. However changes will need to bemade and negative feedback considered when constructing my final magazineas some respondents said it was too empty, this can be altered and fixed to myfinal design by making subheading and side articles along with the main coverstory heading enlarged to fill up the empty space to give it a “full of content” lookwhich most magazines seem to adopt according to my existing text analysis. Also the main central image needs to be larger as a respondent said that “theguy in the middle needs to be bigger” and also if he is colliding or overlappingthe Masthead that would be ideal as the country demographic seem to beconservative in their preference of magazine layouts being traditional and not“weird”. Therefore I shall stick to the codes and conventions of magazines todayas that is what is most preferred according to this research.
