SeaDream cruceros Amazonas 2013

  1. 1. ” It’s yachting, not cruisingExplore Costa RicaExplore the Amazon “It’s yachting, not cruising” Enjoy the difference.
  2. 2. The Amazon SEADREAM now offers exciting voyages on the Amazon River and tributaries, from Bridgetown, Barbados all the way north to Iquitos, Peru. These extraordinary voyages will showcase the best of the Amazon and include ports of call such as Manaus, Brazil; Leticia, Colombia; Pebas, Peru and more. The Amazon voyages feature an expedition team to provide guests with in depth information about the great river and wilderness. The team will also be leading complimentary Zodiac safaris and jungle treks to get up close and personal with the Amazonian wildlife as well as the incredible flora and fauna. SEADREAM is offering unique excursions, featuring Amazonian tribes, museums and markets and the jungle’s exotic plants and animals. Guests can take optional evening canoe trips searching for crocodiles, snakes and other nocturnal creatures or enjoy a riverboat ride to see rare pink dolphins. Go “Flightseeing” soaring over the Rio Negro, Rio Solimoes, the Amazon River and the magnificent expanse of jungle below. Visit small tribal villages and experience a “Boi-Bumba” celebration; an exotic ritual of magic, mystery and passion. On one of Brazil’s best beaches in Alter do Chao, SEADREAM hosts the always popular Champagne and Caviar Splash™. SEADREAM is offering guests optional pre and post voyage over-land adventures. These once in a lifetime trips will explore Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and naturally the highlight, Machu Picchu. Our guests will travel on the Orient Express deluxe train the Hiram Bingham as well as overnight in deluxe accommodations. This is truly a SEADREAM experience on land – don’t miss it.2

  4. 4. Amazon Expeditions An expedition team of 5 Naturalists will be aboard providing in depth information about the great river wilderness. Excursions will feature the jungle’s exotic plants and animals, Amazonian tribes, museums and markets. Optional pre and post voyage over-land adventures feature one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu. Functions of the expedition team: -- Daily Lectures and Power Point Presentations in the Main Salon. In the lower Amazon, the expedition team will escort the (optional) land adventures. -- In the upper Amazon, guests will enjoy Zodiac Safaris. Each Zodiac will have 1 expert and 1 SEADREAM officer or crew member. -- The expedition leader will be on the bridge during daytime navigation together with the Pilot and Captain. This allows freedom to stop the yacht or make announcements from the bridge. The upper Amazon itinerary is never set in stone. It could change daily depending on the wildlife opportunities. Jungle Trekking along with the Zodiac Expeditions will occur daily. Sailing aboard SEADREAM’s Amazon voyages, you’ll meet award-winning photographer, Sue Flood who spent 11 years with the world-renowned BBC Natural History Unit and Sir David Attenborough. She’ll be giving multiple lectures and instruction on general photography, what to look for in a camera, nature and sports photography and more. Sue will create DVDs of her photos taken during Amazon voyages, which will be available for guest purchase. Sue Flood4
  5. 5. Machu PicchuTo compliment our wonderful Amazon voyages, guests may select pre or postoverland packages to Machu Picchu. SEADREAM has teamed up with veryexperienced local partners and together have created insightful excursionsthrough Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. These adventuresinclude deluxe accommodations in five-star hotels, transportation on theOrient Express luxury train, the Hiram Bingham and more. Expertly escorted byspecially selected local licensed guides, these are authentic cultural experiencesdesigned for the sophisticated traveler.-- Visit Urubamba Valley, the Sacred Valley of the Incas.-- Get up close with llamas, fall in love with alpaca, and see ancient weaving techniques still in use.-- Enjoy a gastronomic feast at Wayra Ranch, hosted by Chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.-- Watch stunning equestrian demonstrations of the Peruvian Paso horses accompanied by Marinera music.-- Tour the fortress of Ollantaytambo.-- Take a spectacular 3 ½ hr. ride aboard the Orient Express luxury train, the Hiram Bingham (brunch served while the spectacular Andean scenery passes by).-- Relish the views while having afternoon tea at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge Hotel.-- Tour Cusco (“Archaeological Capital of the Americas”) and its Inca walls.-- In Lima, savor an authentic Peruvian lunch followed by a panoramic tour of the “City of the Kings”. 5
  6. 6. Pebas Pebas, is perhaps the oldest town in the Peruvian Amazon and lies downriver from Iquitos. It’s an attractive, largely palm-thatched town and still relatively rustic and unspoiled. The Witoto and Bora Indians arrived here in the 1930s after being relocated from the Colombian Amazon. They are producing quality artifacts for sale to visitors. The Indians retained much of their traditional knowledge of songs, dances and legends, plus significant ethno-pharmacological practice in rainforest medicine. This region is known for caimans, significant birdlife, butterfly watching, the study of orchids and bromeliads in bloom and for its fishing – piranha being one of the easiest to catch. SEADREAM guests will have the opportunity to visit the famous artist Francisco Grippa’s home and gallery as well as some of the local Indian villages. Alter do Chao The beach resort of Alter do Chao sits on the Tapajos River and is tucked into a bay flanked by two hills. One of the hills, resembling the shape of a church altar, gives the place its name. Giving the town its beauty are the white-sand beaches of the bay and the deep blue waters of the Tapajos River. As refreshing as a cool beverage is a dip in the inviting waters or a rest under a leafy palm tree, both of which visitors find themselves enjoying during their leisurely town exploration. In Alter do Chao, SEADREAM hosts the always popular Champagne and Caviar Splash™.6
  7. 7. LeticiaLeticia is Colombia’s southernmost town, the only major port on the upperAmazon river and is located at the point where Colombia, Brazil and Perucome together in an area called Tres Fronteras. Leticia has plenty to do, withblocks of shopping abundant with local souvenirs to buy and a small museum.Tourism in Leticia has boomed and International students travel to Leticia tolearn Spanish at The Amazon Spanish College. Visitors can enjoy the attractionsnearby the city like Mundo Amazonico Ecological Park as well as MonkeyIsland.SEADREAM is offering Yachting Land Adventures as well as the popular Chef’swalk to the local market in Leticia. ManausThe capital of the State of Amazonas, the belle Époque splendor of Manaus isstill evident in the graceful mansions and the Teatro Amazonas opera house. Thiscity, resting on the Rio Negro, was created by the rubber boom of the mid-19thcentury. Today, stroll down the Parisian-styled boulevards and Italian piazzas, orwatch the fishermen at Municipal Market unload their catch of the day on therivers edge. There are several good museums, fine restaurants featuring regionaldishes and the opportunity to purchase some locally made Indian crafts.SEADREAM has several amazing Yachting Land Adventures planned for thisincredible port. 7
