SMAC creates an ecosystem that
allows a business to improve its
operations and get closer to the
customer with minimal overhead
and maximum reach.
Social media has provided businesses with
new ways to reach and interact with
customers .
Mobile technologies have changed the
way people communicate, shop and work.
Analytics allow businesses to
understand how, when and where
people consume certain goods and
services.
cloud computing provides a new
way to access technology and the
data a business needs to quickly
respond to changing markets and
solve business problems.

3. The proliferation of structured
and unstructured data that
is being created by mobile
devices, sensors, social
media, loyalty card
programs and website
browsing is creating new
business models built
upon customer-generated
data.
The integration of the technologies
requires clear policies and guidelines
as well as management tools that
can automate business processes.
Example, Netflix has successfully
harnessed the power of SMAC.

Information Technology
• Last week IBM CEO Ginni Rometty pledged a $4 billion investment to spur
high-growth lines of business such as analytics, cloud, mobile and security. Big
Blue has clearly identified the most fertile pastures and is now accelerating as
fast as it can to capture a planned $40 billion in revenues from these high-
growth product sectors.
Retail sector
• Tesco Hindustan Service Centre (HSC) is the technology centre of Tesco
Worldwide started using SMAC with expectation of speed and agility. The
volume of this data is set to grow 800 percent over the next 5 years; and 80
percent of this is going to be unstructured data. Big data has the potential to
help retailers get better knowledge of customers, including their buying trends,
location, age, preferences and thereby target better campaigns.
Manufacturing
• The SMAC Stack is becoming an essential technology tool kit for enterprises
and represents the next wave for driving higher customer engagement and
growth opportunities. SMAC is helping early adopters in the manufacturing
market increase efficiencies and change.

5. SMAC by 2020
SMAC for SME’s
SMAC will help all the SME to understand the concept as well help them to
plan adoption to gain competitive advantage. Cloud Computing represents
a $52Bn worldwide market opportunity, and is projected to increase to
more than $241Bn in 2020.
Major advancements by 2020 in SMAC
• Analytics will be the biggest area of investment next 3-5 years starting in
2013. 90% of the world’s data volume was created in the last 2 years; by
2020, the volume of data will increase by an estimated 50x.
• 90 billion devices connected to the internet now, will grow to 50 billion by
2020. 70% of work will be done on mobile or web by 2020.
• Today about 30% of all companies use some level of cloud service but
adoption is growing very fast.
• Volume and complexity for big data in the last 3-4 years have taken access
to information from bad to worse. Collaboration enables employees to once
again see the right information, share across workflow, and make decisions
quickly.

• Innovation is mainly to be concentrated on the areas like analytics and
cloud computing, critical areas for the business development. Technological
improvement reduces cost and increases the purchasing behavior, ensuring
trust. Example, Implemented In retail, IT, Banking, manufacturing sectors
where we can see the rapid growth in developing its customer base.
If given an internship.
• I would like to implement the same SMAC technique for the development
of India esp. in the sectors like Railways, infrastructure developments
which affects the GDP growth.
• Ways it can be implemented? Implementing big data ensures the structure
in the data, and cloud technology is used to solve issues based on further
analysis being made. As railways and infrastructure developments includes
a large amounts of data, Innovations plays a lot. social media drives these
kind of innovations to the next level using mobile devices.
• Social media is essential not only for publicity but also in case of
recruitments, by selecting the right candidate.
