  • 2. The UN Global Day of Parents, observed June 1 every year, provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents in all parts of the world for their selfless commitment to children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship.
  • 3. In Resolution A/RES/66/292 establishing the Global Day of Parents, adopted in 2012, the UN General Assembly noted that the family has the primary responsibility for the nurturing and protection of children and that children, for the full and harmonious development of their personality, should grow up in a family environment and in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.
  • 4. A Global Day of Parents program at the United Nations Headquarters in New York cosponsored by the permanent missions of Burundi, Malaysia, Mali, Nigeria, Romania, Samoa, and St. Lucia
  • 5. UN: Speakers were H.E. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, and H.E. U. Joy Ogwu, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nigeria.
  • 6. Washington DC, USA: Dr. Rosa Rai Djalal, wife of the Ambassador of Indonesia to the US, addressed a forum at The Washington Times.
  • 7. Washington DC, USA: Speakers: H.E. Gilbert Galanxhi, Ambassador of Albania (center), with Caroline Andjaba, President, Spouses of African Ambassadors Association, and Dr. Dialal
  • 8. Buenos Aires, Argentina: Young and old shared stories, poetry, and music honoring parents.
  • 9. Buenos Aires, Argentina: Youth offered expressions of appreciation to all the parents present.
