    • Local news spreads much faster now with the new media

    • Viewers can send in pictures or videos via the internet and also post pictures on Facebook that apply to top stories on the station and in the community

    • Breaking News can be spread throughout sites such as Twitter and Facebook at tremendous speeds
    • Anchors and reporters can post what they are working on or breaking news when it happens, allowing a lot of people to know about stories quicker
    • This allows the breaking news to hit communities before the news airs.
                                     
  • 5. Twitter
    • Many news anchors have their own Twitter page for viewers to follow.
  • 6. Facebook
    • Fans of news stations can find things out before they hit the air
  • 7. Promoting Anchors and Reporters
    • Lot’s of local news anchors and reporters are creating fan pages for themselves or the news channel as a whole
  • 8. Research
    • The way reporters are researching their stories are changing because they don’t have to go out into public to speak with people.
    • These reporters can contact people in their community about certain stories through Facebook and read what's going on through Twitter

    • Local News channels have started laying people off due to the fact that their jobs can be done online with these new media programs.
