    3. Distributing Data What do you want to achieve? What do you want to protect? What do you want to prevent?
    4. What do you want to achieve?
      • short universal agreement to govern the licensing of data to third parties
      • capable of being flexed without recourse to lawyers to reflect the nature of the data being licensed and the delivery channel,
      • providing mechanisms to begin and end a contractual licensing arrangement
    5. What do you want to protect?
      • IPR in originating data
      • Our customers from delivery of inaccurate or out of date information
      • Potential revenue streams now or in the future (where we determine a revenue stream is viable)
    6. What do you want to prevent?
      • Data being used without our approval
      • (i.e. National Traveline, not all stakeholders)
      • Charges to end users damaging our reputation
      • Avoidance of revenue sharing
      • Exclusivity of license
    7. What Might A Code Do?
      • Encourage the widest possible use of the data
      • Providing protection for data suppliers
      • Obviate the need for complex data licenses
      • Be used as part of an agreement for data supply
      • Or
      • An entire agreement that a user agrees to by obtaining/using the data. (Permitted Use)
    8. Not In The Code?

      • Specific agreement term
      • Service levels
      • e.g. chargeable services such as data formatting, despatch and maintenance
      • Arrangements for testing
      • Specific arrangements for liability
      • Audit rights (except compliance with the Code)
      • Force Majeure
