  2. 2. Fact: Legally anyone can call themselves an accountant regardless of training, qualifications or experience
  3. 3. What is a Chartered Accountant? An ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales) Chartered Accountant MUST: Complete at least three year training (practical and theoretical)
  4. 4. They also need to: Keep their knowledge up to date regularly through continuous professional development Hold a practising certificate and professional indemnity insurance
  5. 5. As well as… Be subject to review under the ICAEW Practice Assurance scheme, which ensures the accountant is committed to quality assurance and upholds and develops the highest professional standards
  6. 6. And… Be bound by the ICAEW Code of Ethics and subject to their disciplinary procedures
  7. 7. So how can a Chartered Accountant help ME? They have up to date knowledge
  8. 8. A Chartered Accountant is also trained to listen and give sound, quality advice and insight into your finances
  9. 9. And VERY importantly The ICAEW Code of Ethics ensures their professionalism and responsibility to their clients at all times
