Mission and Goals <ul><li>University Outreach Services at California State University, Fresno is dedicated to providing services and promoting programs that engage and recruit students to the university. </li></ul><ul><li>To be on the forefront of technology and innovation in recruitment of students to Fresno State, while providing exceptional pre-admission counseling and customer service to today’s diverse student population. </li></ul>

Community Context <ul><li>The Office of University Outreach Services (UOS) is a non-profit organization that coordinates many of the university's ongoing outreach programs and recruitment. </li></ul><ul><li>As a regional university, Fresno State concentrates its major outreach activities in high schools and community colleges in the Central Valley, which extends from Sacramento to Bakersfield. </li></ul><ul><li>Currently UOS serves two community colleges and 35 high schools. </li></ul>

Population at risk <ul><li>The University Outreach Services collaborates with FUSD (Fresno Unified School District) to work with on track and almost on track high school seniors and juniors. </li></ul><ul><li>High School Outreach- University Outreach representative visits high schools both fall and spring semester and provides information regarding admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and the majors and programs the university has to offer. </li></ul>

Agency Practices/Services <ul><li>Training </li></ul><ul><li>Counseling </li></ul><ul><li>Student Ambassador </li></ul><ul><li>Workshops/Seminars </li></ul><ul><li>Campus tour </li></ul><ul><li>And assist students with: </li></ul><ul><li>Application process, financial aid, housing, majors, and educate them in utilizing the resources on campus. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Role as a Social Work Intern <ul><li>As a social work intern, I take on the role of an ambassador. Ambassadors are assign to school site(s) and their main goal is to recruit for the university. Ambassadors works along with the counselors at their site and assists students with the required information that is needed for university admission. Ambassadors will continue to follow up on the amount of student admission. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Significance (social justice) <ul><li>Service-This agency promotes and provides the services for high school student’s education. </li></ul><ul><li>Competence- University Outreach Services provides help to all high school seniors and juniors regardless of their background. </li></ul>
