Pop- up River Delta

  1. 1. Pop-up delta<br />
  2. 2. The Template - You draw your own template (as below) and use for the model.The template should be drawn on A4 card. <br />
  3. 3. Cut out the template<br />
  4. 4.
  5. 5. Fold the outer flaps upwards<br />
  6. 6. Cut along the two lines as far as the river edge<br />
  7. 7. Fold the river edges downwards<br />
  8. 8. Your model should now look like this<br />
  9. 9. Fold downwards the flaps at the delta front <br />
  10. 10. Colour the 3 sediment layers of the delta cross section<br />
  11. 11. Colour both sides<br />
  12. 12. Stick down(with cellotape) the outer flaps of the river section<br />
  13. 13. Stick down the other side<br />
  14. 14. Your model should now be secure, with the delta front loose <br />
  15. 15. Label the delta top<br />
  16. 16. Label the delta cross section<br />
  17. 17. Delta features to label in book<br />1 - Distributary<br />2 - Fertile delta plain<br />3 - Main river channel<br />4 - Top set beds (mixture of silt and clay)<br />5 - Foreset beds (pebbles and sand)<br />6 – Bottomset beds (mainly clay)<br />
  18. 18. Your model should be complete. Close your exercise book to test the model.<br />
