The abolitionist <ul><li>I will talk about the British abolitionist. </li></ul><ul><li>There are many abolitionists who have done a lot for the black slaves because so that they could have a decent life. </li></ul>
The British abolition <ul><li>The most famous abolisionist: </li></ul>
William Wilberforce <ul><li>He was born between 1759 and 1833. </li></ul><ul><li>He want to stop the slave trade. </li></ul><ul><li>In 1789 Wilberforce made his first speech in Parliament on the subject of ending the slave trade. However, the slave traders and slave owners had too many friends and allies in Parliament. Wilberforce’s proposal was defeated for the first, but not the last, time. </li></ul>
Thomas Clarkson <ul><li>Clarkson was one of the first British abolitionists, helping to form the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade with Granville Sharp and other abolitionists in May 1787. </li></ul><ul><li>Clarkson and Sharp persuaded William Wilberforce to join the campaign. Clarkson was helped to abolish the Slave Trade. </li></ul>
Granville Sharp <ul><li>He was born between 1735 and 1813 and he lived in London. </li></ul><ul><li>He had strong views on many topics including support for the reform of Parliament and the abolition of the slave trade. </li></ul><ul><li>He did much fear the slave and helped them. </li></ul>
Zachary Macaulay <ul><li>The son of a Scottish minister, Zachary Macaulay was working in a merchant counting house in Glasgow when at the age of 16 he was sent to Jamaica. He started work on a sugar plantation where eventually he became a manager. </li></ul><ul><li>After eight years working in the West Indies he returned to Britain. In 1794 he took the post of Governor of the Sierra Leone colony established in 1788 for freed slaves in West Africa. </li></ul>
Thomas Fowell Buxton <ul><li>Thomas Fowell Buxton was born in Essex in 1786. </li></ul><ul><li>Biografi: Thomas Fowell Buxton was born in Essex in 1786. His mother was a member of the Society of Friends Buxton became a close friend of Joseph Gurney and he began attending meetings of the Society of Friends with the Gurney family. Buxton married Joseph's sister, Hannah, in 1807. </li></ul>
