    • What NOT to do on a cover letterWriting a cover letter is an art. It can’t be too long, too complex, too short, or toostandard. Your cover letter will help your résumé get noticed in the piles. Don’t forget toput your contact details at the top of the cover letter as well as the date and the addressof the recipientThere are plenty of things you can do on your cover letter to guarantee it will go straightinto the recycle bin. By avoiding the following no-nos, you can create a covering letterthat stands out from the crowd.TO DO:Put your contact details at the top of the cover letter followed by the date andthen the details of the recipientIn the first paragraph, address the name of the recruitment job and theinformation source you have known about the job from.Try to find out the name and position of the recruiter.Write the cover letter based on recruitment information on the recruitment ad; tryto give specific examples of your relevant experiences to the recruitment job.Sign at the end of the cover letter.After finishing writing, read the letter again to check for any spelling orgrammatical errors.
