IntroductionIts undeniable that marketing via online video is hot right now, hasbeen for the last two years, and will be for years to come.No matter how great your current online video traffic strategy isright now, theres more you can do.And no matter how new you are to creating video content, andleveraging it to increase your customer base, its not too late to start.Yet.Here are some basic statistics if you arent convinced: • According to Cisco, 50% of mobile traffic will be video by the end of this year – yes, 2011. • They also project that by 2013, 90% of all internet traffic will be video. If the internet grows at the current rate, that doesnt necessarily mean that no one will read text anymore, but they will definitely be in the minority. • The same study says that quality isnt the factor that makes people want to watch, its information as often as entertainment, (content) and the ability to socially interaction (commenting and conversation with community or the video creator). But some information is better digested as text- for example, in this document, you can scan to the information that is most relevant to you instead of having to view an entire video. Well come back to that later. • People are paying attention to this video content as well. Although you have between 10 – 60 seconds to capture your viewers attention before 44% of them are likely to leave, the ones that remain engaged are much more likely to take action, including buying. A survey from last year shows that 46% of frequent online shoppers prefer sites with video. Some retailers experience a 12% conversion boost from including it. • Marketing to other businesses? C-level executives surveyed by Forbes magazine prefer video on business-related sites by a 75% landslide, with 65% of them visiting the site after watching a video hosted elsewhere. 60% also stated that if there was both text and video on the same page, theyd watch the video rather than reading the text. Half of executives under 40 also made purchases after watching product videos, as did 43% of those in their 40% and 26% of those in their 50s. • What about general consumers? If a product video is present, viewers are 85% more -7-

(I can personally attest to the fact that purchases go up when I present free video tutorials beforehand or give information in video on the product page. ) • Videos help with other traffic generation methods too. As I explained in Instant Google Traffic, videos need less link help to capture first page rankings, with some needing as few as 9 links, vs competing text-based pages that need several thousand. According to Forrester Research, properly implemented video optimization makes a first page Google ranking 32 times more likely than the same data in a text page.I could throw numbers at you all day, but here is the bottom line – if you want to have asuccessful online website that increases sales and customers, you need to start making thetransition to video if you havent already.And if you already have, youll need to increase the quality and pace of production to stayahead of your competition.Now, this guide isnt meant to be a comprehensive overview of all things related to videomarketing online. Because every piece of content you create can be targeted to a different situation, a different keyword, a fresh perspective. Think of each video as a new mini-salesperson for your site. Each one of those new sales people can target a new micro-market of people who all have similar concerns, questions or curiosities. Which brings us to a new problem – more video published more often may mean more traffic, yet, video can be a pain to create and edit . But it doesnt have to be.How can we overcome these issues?Well, first, we have to figure out why video is such a burden, then see how we can eliminatesome of the pains of video content creation in a way that will still allow us to represent ourcompanies in a professional way.Tips for Creating Better Webcam/Video Camera RecordingsThe fastest way to make videos, of course, is to get a web cam, or video recorder, sit in front ofit and talk for a few minutes, recording it using tools that record webcam video, like the freetool Jing (also has a pro version), or YouTubes Webcam feature.Some people can even make pretty good short clips with their phones video camera.There are a few things you can do to avoid issues with editing after the video is created.Eliminating Common Editing ProblemsThe main editing problem most people have is creating a poor quality video, then attemptingto improve its quality after the video has been made. Of course, you can keep creating newvideos until you get it right, but if you dont know how to make the situation better, this hardlyhelps – you just end up with several bad versions.So try these tips to reduce some of the problems that happen in editing webcam videos.First, make sure you have plenty of light – a light source other than your monitor, unless thereis lots of natural sunlight flooding the room. Also, try putting the light source in front of youinstead of behind you for a clearer picture.Second, try filming in a light-colored shirt, preferably white, so that the camera will stopattempting to adjust your color.Third, find a background that is one color, and is as simple as possible – take any items out of -9-
