  • Plantronics has built a world-class team of industrial designers that come from some of the world’s most prestigious brands including, BMW, Fiat, Nike, Nokia and Motorola. The Plantronics Design team is breaking new ground in headset and personal communication device design, ensuring that Plantronics products are comfortable, easy to use and gorgeous to the eye. The Plantronics Design team continues to set new standards in the industry for headset design and function. For example, the Plantronics Discovery 640 headset (pictured) won the prestigious iF global award in 2006 for its innovative design. To accommodate Plantronics’ growing design team and product work, in 2007 the company will open a new ID center at its headquarters in Santa Cruz, Calif. The Plantronics Design team is led by Darrin Caddes, vice president of Corporate Design. Prior to joining Plantronics, Darrin held senior design positions at some of the world’s most prestigious automotive and motorcycle brands including, Indian Motorcycle, BMW and Fiat. Unique Approach The importance of design is very evident in the personal communications and entertainment market as consumers demand products that effectively combine superior sound technology with the fashion standards of apparel, jewelry or eyewear – a delicate and complex challenge. Plantronics Design treats the human form as a canvas from which to begin the inspiration process. The team's expertise in human behavior and anatomy, ergonomics, color, proportion and complex surface development converge in the design of advanced products that look beautiful and become extensions of the body.
