  4. 4. AVIVA Astralis Group Global Finance Transformation Programme In order to deliver AVIVA’s strategies, there has been a strong emphasis on improving internal systems and processes. A major initiative, sponsored by the Board and Group Finance Director is the Global Finance Transformation Programme (GFTP). The Global Finance Transformation Programme is a major international change programme which plays a key role in supporting Aviva’s group-wide Finance community, to achieve its vision of becoming an industry-leading finance function appropriate to the scale and ambitions of Aviva. The programme covers all aspects of Finance including performance management, external reporting, governance and financial management. It also involves significant technological change. Core elements of the programme are focused on our people and our culture and the need to embed a sustainable capability to change. The programme is truly international and potentially involves all 30+ countries in which Aviva operates. The programme will take at least two years to complete. Assignment Brief 4
  5. 5. AVIVA Astralis Group Background and Context of the Role The Global Finance Transformation Programme is now at Stage 1 of a multi-stage Programme. This first stage is due to be delivered by the end of 2002. The programme incorporates a large number of Sub-Programmes, which are in themselves significant. The complexity, geographical scope and sheer scale of the overall programme dictates the need for a central focus for the direct management and co- ordination of the programme. With the GFTP now well established, the organizational structure continues to evolve as the dimensions of the programme take shape. As a result, the Programme Office and Process and Technology functions of the GFTP require additional resources. The role of Business Analysis/Relationship Manager reports directly to the IT Director for Group Finance. It is London based. Assignment Brief 5

AVIVA Astralis Group The Role The Primary purpose of this role will be to ensure that all Sub-Programmes are represented and supported through all phases of the overall GFTP; from the initial requirements definition through to the implementation of process and technology changes into Group and Business Units. The Sub-Programmes include: • Performance Management • Finance Management • Corporate Governance • External Reporting • Internal Reporting Standards As a key member of the P+T team within the GFTP, working closely with Sub- Programme management, you will be responsible for: • All requirements input to the Design Authority and P+T implementation teams. • Determining Programme and Workstream compliance and interdependencies; including managing the P+T related dependencies between Sub-Programmes, Risk and Issue management and progress reporting. • Defining the boundaries of P+T liaison capabilities and activities within the scope defined above. • Ensuring that individual Sub-Programme requirements are ‘fit for purpose’. • Ensuring that commonality of requirements across all Sub-Programmes is identified and addressed. • Confirming the requirements of the Sub-Programmes, monitoring, coordinating and maintaining the progress and impetus of the Programme. • Assisting in the development of project definition. • Preparing business cases and project plans. • Problem, escalation, issue and risk management. • Providing progress reporting, budgetary input and change control management. AVIVA Astralis Group • Maintaining information and communication flows between all parties involved within your remit. • Maintaining relationships with Programme management, business sponsors, Internal Audit, the IT community, peer groups within GFTP and the Finance areas of the Business Units involved. AVIVA Astralis Group The Person Qualifications and Experience • Degree qualified, or better, in a relevant discipline, preferably accounting. • Professionally qualified in project management, PMP or similar. • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex, technology-based business solutions within a finance environment and within time-sensitive constraints. • Large scale, complex, multi-national project/programme management experience, involving significant change, gained over a 3-5 year period. • Finance experience gained within a major multi-national organisation. Insurance industry experience would be ideal. • Multi-disciplinary team exposure. • A demonstrated commitment to structured project management methodologies. • Solid understanding of technology-based business systems, in particular finance systems. Personal Attributes • Able to develop and maintain strongly collaborative working relationships across functional, organisational and international boundaries. • Well honed planning and organising skills. • Excellent communication skills. • Able to rapidly assess the viability of options, decide and commit fully to the one selected. • Strong team working orientation, with a genuine concern for the welfare and performance of staff. • Committed to a healthy work-life balance. • A high level of personal and professional integrity.
