What Does It Mean?Globalization means movement People, images, symbols, information, capital, goods and so on increasingly move from one corner of the world to another and people communicate with other people many miles away As a consequence, individual people are increasingly facing different influences and ideas from other parts of the world
DiversityDiversity in terms of : Cultural differences Linguistic differences Religious differences Globalization and migration confronts organizations with an increasing diversity in the labor market and the sales market. Organizations have to deal with an increasing diversity of people in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and cultural background! Organizational diversity (e.g. differences in tenure, education, position and function)!
Some MCD Cases What does it mean to a hospital when patients with various religious beliefs need tailor-made care? How are production and service delivery affected when people from all parts of the world come together to communicate and work in a company? What are the consequences when citizens representing different identities, traditions, languages and beliefs send their children to mixed schools? Do people with different ethnic backgrounds get equal opportunities in the labor market?
Aims of MCD MCD provides the tools, knowledge, skills and critical analytical ways of thinking, to analyze, interpret and approach issues of cultural diversity! And with the means to design strategies and interventions to deal with these issues based on this analysis and understanding, taking into account social and societal responsibility. These tools will enable students to perform their future profession in an independent way and at an academic level!
Specialization Within MCDThe Management of Cultural Diversity program disposes of the relevantexpertise from both the communication and culture perspectives as embodiedin the Master’s programs in Communication and Information Sciences and Arts& Culture Sciences.Therefore we offer two specializations and two perspectives on practices ofdiversity: MCD - Arts and Culture MCD - Communication and Information Sciences

Admission Requirements You have a Bachelors/Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as general Humanities, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Sociology, Linguistics, Religion Studies, Political Sciences, Business Studies, Organization Studies, Communication and Information Studies, Cross-Cultural Psychology or Human Resource Studies. In case you have a different educational background, please ask our advise before you apply! An adequate knowledge of English is required. Academic IELTS (min. 6.5 overall/6.0 on parts) TOEFL (min. paper-based: 577, computer-based: 233, internet-based: 90) An adequate knowledge of research methodology, since this forms an important part of the program
