He is also a member of the core committee advising the government on the formationand implementation of the Medical Devices Regulation standards in India.Ajays experience in the Indian medical device market makes him believe that, “India has aphenomenal potential to be a global base for medical device innovations”.Ajays expertise and dedication are probably the most important reasons for the leadershipposition the Sushrut – Adler Group enjoys in the Indian market today; a fact that has beenconfirmed externally through a survey by Datamonitor (a Reuters Group Company) in 2002.Arun MairaMember Planning CommissionGovernment of IndiaArun Maira was appointed a Member of the Planning Commission in the Government ofIndia in 2009. He is a thought leader and writer on the subjects of transformational changeand leadership. He is a frequent speaker at international forums on the future of India. He isthe author of several books including “Transforming Capitalism: Business Leadership toImprove the World for Everyone”, and “Shaping the Future: Aspirational Leadership in Indiaand Beyond”.He worked for 25 years with the Tata Group in India in senior management and boardpositions. He worked with Arthur D. He started DriVen partnership, a socialenterprise which worked with microenterprises. Over a career span of 12 years withGoldman Sachs in New York and London, he served in various management roles in Equitiesand Asset Management Division of Goldman Sachs. His previous work experiences were inGlaxoWellcome, NorTel and IBM. Mr.Saleh is also the founder of Drishtipat, a globalorganisation focusing on human and economic rights of Bangladeshis. In 2001, he startedthe-then Internet based Drishtipat (Take Notice) which became an umbrella of concerneddiaspora expatriates working on social development. Currently it has nine chapters in theUSA, Australia, UK, Canada and Bangladesh.Mr.Saleh is the co-founder of Drishtipat Writers Collective. He blogs and writes regularly forleading dailies in Bangladesh and in international magazines on society, politics,development, entrepreneurship and diaspora centric issues. His write ups have beenpublished in The Guardian, Himal, The Daily Star, New Age etc. He also teaches social mediaat University of Liberal Arts of Bangladesh and BRAC University periodically.On his most recent role, he served as a policy specialist for the UNDP funded project Accessto Information Programme (A2i) based at the Prime Ministers Office and facilitated variousICT initiatives for development sector. Some of the notable policy initiatives includedfacilitation of partnership between government and the banks on branchless banking,nationwide broadband connectivity.Mr.Saleh was recognised for his works by Asia Society through their Asia 21 programme,which recognises young leaders from Asian countries, in 2008. He has been recognised byBangladeshi American Foundation for his achievements in 2007. He was also selected as anAsia 21 fellow in 2012. Mr.Saleh holds a Bachelors in Computer Science and an MBA inManagement from NYU Stern School of Business. He is currently a member of the advisoryboard of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust and a board member of Institute ofInformatics and Development (IID).Relations and Personnel Management from College ofVocational Studies, a PGDBM in HR from IILM, Delhi and a Law Graduate from Campus LawCentre, Delhi University.

Affordable Healthcare SummitAlkesh WadhwaniDeputy DirectorAvahanAlkesh joined Avahan( the AIDS initiative of (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in India) in2003, and was one of the key members who helped conceptualize and implement the $258million five year program¡one of the world ¡s largest HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Avahanprovides services in more than 600 towns and cities in six of the worst affected states andnational highways of India, serving more than six million at-risk individuals. Theorganization is responsible for leading the HIV/AIDS related implementing program grantsin India. Alkesh leads Avahan¡’s efforts to support the Government of India in scaling up itsHIV/AIDS prevention activities, and is currently spear-heading the design of thefoundation¡’s HIV/AIDS strategy over the next five years in India. Prior to the Bill and MelindaGates Foundation, Alkesh worked in Mckinsey& Company, Mumbai as a Project Manager forfive years. He led strategy assignments with some of the largest banks in Singapore, UK andIndia. He was also involved in a year long effort by the McKinsey Global Institute in 2002 inidentifying barriers to a 10% GDP growth for India. During 1992-97, Alkesh co-founded IITInvesTrust, an equity broking form with seats on the BSE and NSE. He also worked in theFinancial Institutions Group at Citibank. Alkesh completed his M.B.A. at the Indian Institute ofManagement, Calcutta where he stood 4th in a class of over 150. He graduated in ElectricalEngineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, where he represented theinstitute at the bridge nationals.Dr. A. K. Shiva KumarMember, National Advisory CouncilGovernment of IndiaDr. A. K. Shiva Kumar is a development economist and Adviser to UNICEF, India. He is alsoVisiting Professor at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad and teaches economicsand public policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Shiv works on issues ofpoverty, health, nutrition, basic education, women’s right and children’s rights. He is closelyinvolved with development evaluation and is a founding member of the InternationalDevelopment Evaluation Association. He has been a regular contributor to UNDP’s HumanDevelopment Reports and National Human Development Reports. His areas of interestinclude human development, social sector analysis, and the impact of development policieson children and women. He works closely with several non-governmental organizationsengaged in the promotion of health, human rights and environment. Shiv did his M.A. inEconomics from Bangalore University and his Post Graduate Diploma in Management fromIndian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He also has a Masters in PublicAdministration and a Ph.D in Political Economy and Government, both from HarvardUniversity.

A graduate inIndustrial Engineering & Masters in industrial design. He started his professional consultingcareer with the founding of Qmulus Design Private limited in 2003. He established CrevolveDesign Technologies in 2009, a collaborative platform for appropriate technology + designdevelopment.He is a collaborator with Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore & JHPIEGO on the ‘saving livesat birth’ research program. His current research is focused on developing low-costtechnologies for combating maternal & infant mortality in developing countries &development of a vaccine cooler for front-line health workers in inaccessible regions ofdeveloping nations.He was nominated management board member at Venture Studio, an incubation platformborn out of the collaboration between Stanford University and Ahmedabad University. She has served as a board director orobserver to Apex Learning, Claros Diagnostics (acquired by OPKO Health), CodeRyte(acquired by 3M), Combinent Biomedical Systems, HistoRx, Medical Metrx Solutions,Niman Ranch, Sun & Earth, TelaDoc Medical Services and Valeo Medical. John seeshis job as building EMW into a global leader in effective, catalytic solutions to developmentissues such as the lack of clean water and high infant mortality.Prior to EMW, John was the founder and executive director of the Independent PressAssociation, a membership organization that provided technical assistance and businessservices to hundreds of independent and ethnic periodicals. The IPA was a highlyentrepreneurial non-profit that generated most of its budget from earned income. UnderJohns leadership, the IPA either purchased or launched five businesses in five years. Hestarted the organization with a $5,000 grant in 1996, and grew it to an operating budget of$3.5 million in 2002. He was also the President of BigTop Newsstand Services, aninternational magazine distribution company acquired by the IPA in 2000. John has alsoserved as Publications Director at the Center for Third World Organizing from 1989 to 1997where he founded, edited and published Third Force, a cross-cultural national magazineabout community and labor politics in communities of color. Prior to that, he was Editor-in-Chief at Nicaraguan Perspectives magazine from 1986-1989.John was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mauritania, West Africa during 1983-1985. He alsoworked in Central America. He received a B.A. with Special Honors in Political Science fromTufts University in 1982, and an M.S. in International Agricultural Development from theUniversity of California at Davis in 1989. John lives in Albany, California with his wife andthree daughters. He is a bicycle road racer and member of the Berkeley Bicycle Club.

She previouslyworked in BRACs Health Program and co-authored Making Tuberculosis History:Community-based Solutions for Millions. She also provides communications and strategicsupport in a community-based prenatal care program for Latina woman in he United States.As one of the earliest members of Harvards Global Health Delivery Project, Maria spent2007-2010 working on a range of projects, from developing case studies, designinggraduate-level courses at the School of Public Health and MIT Sloan School of Management,and managing its research on sustaining health delivery at scale. She also served as theExecutive Director of Improve Health Care 2008-2009, a network of student groups acrossthe world dedicated to increasing leadership and awareness of health policy issues in futurephysicians. Maria also worked at the National Quality Center in the New York StateDepartment of Healths AIDS Institute, on efforts to provide quality improvement support forprograms serving people living with HIV in the United States.Maria graduated from HarvardCollege in 2006 with a degree in Sociology and Health Policy. Her thesis analyzed theexperience of women with HIV with health care and social services in Chicago. Shecompleted a health care immersion course at Harvard Business School in 2008.

He worked with ICICI from 1987 to 2007 and was a member ofits Board of Directors from 2001 to 2007. From 2007 to 2011, he served as the foundingPresident of ICICI Foundation. He is now the Chairman of CARE India and a Board Member ofthe IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health.
