  • This brings me to my role as the current chair of BTAP or the backpacker tourism advisory panel. For those not familiar with BTAP we are the national body representing the needs of the youth travel industry under the umbrella of ATEC – the Australian Tourism Export Council.

Common Threads • BTAP uptake – national issues • BOAs – state focus – BTAP and BOA’ s to work collaboratively • Industry needs to stay co-ordinated and focused • Industry support of BTAP and BOAs to gain a strong voice in terms of lobbying state and federal govt • Industry cannot change certain external factors e.g. exchange rate, GFCs, but we can stay strong and focus on what we can change and make sure we as a destination are ahead of the game in terms of innovation, meeting expectations and providing an exceptional experience
