Cloud computing

  1. 1. CLOUD COMPUTING
  2. 2. Linking many computers together to form one very big computer used to perform all your tasks on the Internet.
  3. 3. What is Cloud Computing?• Using web apps or server services you pay to access instead of software or hardware you buy and install.• Computer services delivered via the Internet covering more than apps & data storage.
  4. 4. Cloud Computing Categories • Infrastructure (IaaS) • Platform (PaaS) • Software (SaaS)
  5. 5. 1) Infrastructure as a Service Provides users with virtual infrastructure like servers and data storage space. This is where virtualization fits into the cloud.
  6. 6. VirtualizationGood News: Allows expansion of ITresources without incurring costs ofphysically expanding infrastructure.Bad News: Be patient. Stay tuned!
  7. 7. 2) Platform as a Service Provides users with development environment services where they create and run home-grown apps.
  8. 8. 3) Software as a Service Provides users with access to apps already operating in the cloud.
  9. 9. Cloud Computing Adds Up… …when SaaS (Software as a Service) is combined with PaaS (hardware Platform). SaaS & PaaS describe the business model of users logging into a centralized hub to access their software products.
  10. 10. No current regulations for data security risks that would punishcompanies gambling with massive amounts of sensitive data.
  11. 11. Cloud Computing Disadvantages • Security • Downtime • Cost • Inflexibility • Lack of support
