  • Fundamental review of all that we do.....within three years and yours truly has been project manager for many of these..... 16/07/13
  • Did anyone go to the AUA Annual Conference 2012 session in Manchester that Malcolm Gillies provided entitled: Portfolio management: efficiency, quality utility – I will be referencing some of Malcolm’s presentation during this session Merger – has there really been a merger.....dual everything – north management – email systems etc Student funding debacles – well documented – leads to fine of 36 million over three years – change in management and governors Student non completion rates – high – this leads to funding and resource problems – spend a lot of time recruiting students and lose them Low student satisfaction – NSS – not good – entered league tables – at bottom.... New Strategic Plan - developed together in an open manner – clear that radical transformation required – or we will go broke and cease to exist – include basic reviews such as UG and PG and Research – Browne review – transfer of funding to student Market – quasi market – now based upon demand 16/07/13
  • Requirements proven methods that will deliver results track record of success in sector - able to address sector issues Options Project based only one we thought of using – was being used in University by estates and ISS Strategic Programme Office recently established following review of University by auditors Documentation Required for process and to help provide openness and collaboration HE Ed culture and change methodologies - real issue – uniqueness of sector – not business like 16/07/13
  • Prince 2 lite -Project Mandate /Project Initiation Document/Project Highlight Reports/Workstream and reports/Terms of reference Tools Fortnightly meetings Published everything via internal website/document library/ weblearn Communication strategy Open etc Project Board – terms of reference Working methods 16/07/13
  • Key recommendations - during review issues such as damaged brand etc Rationalise portfolio based upon demand Curriculum – 30 weeks long based upon 4 long Developed strap line of ‘affordable quality education’ process of projects etc Communications – as so important lets review what happened... 16/07/13
