Beginners Guide To Website Conversion Beginners Guide To Website Conversion Presentation Transcript

  • A Beginners Guide To...
    Improving Your Conversion Rate
  • What is a conversion rate?
Quite simply, a conversion rate is the proportion of visitors to your website which "convert". The conversions that you measure are up to you, but typical conversions are submitting a contact form, sending an email, downloading particular files, a sign up or sale etc.
Within online marketing the constant goal is to increase the conversion rate for clients.
We have outlined 5 top tips for boosting your conversion rate...

  • 1. Relevance
Make sure that you are providing relevant content for visitors. Your on-page keyword strategy should reflect the content of your site to ensure relevance to your visitors. This in return reduces the bounce rate* for your site along with increasing the chance of a sale or follow through from the visitor. There is little point in optimising a site for 'Bananas' when you are actually only talking about 'Pineapples'.
*bounce rate - amount of people who click away from the site without viewing further pages.

  • 2. Calls to action
Have clear calls to action across your site. Including a prominent phone number, email address etc. Make it easy to be contacted! If you have a contact /quote form keep it simple. People want to do things as quickly and efficiently as possible. Make it easy and only ask for the info that you really do need, not just lots of ‘nice to have’ info.

  • 3. Signposting
Ensure that you have simple, uncluttered navigation and that the visitor path is well signposted.
Obviously the direction you aim for visitors to take is from entry to contact/conversion. Do your best to help people find their way through your site.

  • 4. Testimonials & More
People love to know about the experiences that others have had with your company. If you are proud of what you do for your customers/clients – ask for some testimonials. And when you get them, show them off for all to see. Work for some top clients or customers? Adding the logos (or even better, case studies) of your clients can help reinforce your image. Why do you think celebrity endorsements work so well? Because if someone like David Beckham is using it, it must be good right?

  • 5. E-commerce
Do you have an e-commerce site? Offer online payment? For potential customers, when ordering something online, security is paramount. Be sure to place the ‘Certified’ icons and payment option logos on your site to reinforce your secure payment options. We hope you’ve found our 5 conversion tips insightful.
