Plan Your Project: Remembering the Vietnam War Summarize the goals and objectives for this project: -students will understand the causes and effects of the Vietnam War -students will analyze photographs, primary sources, maps, and graphs -students will discuss how the Vietnam War altered the fabric of the US -students will compare/contrast the different points of view of the war Identify the content standard that students that drive this project: Standard 1 History of the United States and New York use a variety of intellectual skills to demonstrate their understanding of major ideas, eras, themes, developments, and turning points in the history of the United States and New York. Standard 2 World History use a variety of intellectual skills to demonstrate their understanding of major ideas, eras, themes, developments, and turning points in world history and examine the broad sweep of history from a variety of perspectives. Standard 5 Civics, Citizenship, and Government use a variety of intellectual skills to demonstrate their understanding of the necessity for establishing governments; the governmental system of the U.S. and other nations; the U.S. Constitution; the basic civic values of American constitutional democracy; and the roles, rights, and responsibilities of citizenship, including avenues of participation. Identify key skills and content: What will students know and be able to do? Students will know and be able to explain that the Vietnam War meant different things to different people.
