8th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Liturgical Year A) Presentation Transcript

  • 1. Look at the birds of the sky; they do not sow nor do they reap. They gather nothing in barns yet your heavenly Father feeds them!
  • 2. A reading from the Book of Isaiah
  • 3. Zion said: “ The Lord has Forsaken me, my Lord has forgotten me.”
  • 4. Can a mother forget her infant and have no compassion for the child of her womb?
  • 5. Even if she should forget, I will never forget You.
  • 6. The Word of God! Thanks be to God!
  • 7. In God alone does my soul rest! Responsorial Psalm:
  • 8. Only in God is my soul at rest: from Him comes my salvation.
  • 9. He alone is my Rock and my Salvation, He is my Stronghold; I shall not be moved.
  • 10. In God alone does my soul rest! Responsorial Verse:
  • 11. Only in God is my soul at rest for from Him comes my hope.
  • 12. He alone is my Rock and my Salvation. He is my Stronghold; I shall not be moved.
  • 13. In God alone does my soul rest! Responsorial Verse:
  • 14. In God alone is my Salvation and Glory. He is my Mighty Rock and Refuge.
  • 15. Trust in the Lord at all times oh nation; open your hearts for Him.
  • 16. In God alone does my soul rest! Responsorial Verse:
  • 17. A reading from the 1 st letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians
  • 18. Brothers and sisters, let everyone see us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
  • 19. Being stewards faithfulness is demanded of us.
  • 20. Speaking for myself, it does not concern me in the least If I be judged by yourselves or any human tribunal;
  • 21. I do not even pass judgement upon myself.
  • 22. Indeed, my conscience does not accuse me of anything; but that is not enough for me to be set right with God. It is God who judges me.
  • 23. Therefore do not pass judgement before the apponited time, the coming of the Lord.
  • 24. For He shall bring to light all that is hidden in darkness, and reveal the secret intentions of our hearts.
  • 25. and then each one will receive from God the praise he deserves.
  • 26. The Word of God! Thanks be to God!
  • 27. The Word of God is Living and Powerful, assessing the thoughts and motives of our hearts. Hallelujah ! Hallelujah ! Hallelujah !
  • 28.  
  • 29. Then Jesus said to his disciples:
  • 30. “ No one can serve two masters;
  • 31. for he will either hate one and love the other,
  • 32. or be devoted to one and despise the other.
  • 33. You cannot serve God and money.
  • 34. Therefore I tell you: Do not be worried about your life
  • 35. what you will eat or what you will drink, nor for your body and what you will wear .
  • 36. For is not life more than food and your body more than your clothes?
  • 37. Look at the birds of the sky; they do not sow and they do not reap, nor do they gather food in barns,
  • 38. and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them!
  • 39. Are you not worth more than these? And who among you, is capable of adding a single day to his life by worrying about it?
  • 40. And why are you so worried about your clothes?
  • 41. Look at the how the flowers of field grow! They do not work nor weave.
  • 42. And yet I tell you, not even Solomon, clothed in all his splendour was clothed as one of them.
  • 43. If God clothes as such a grass of the field which blooms today and is thrown in the furnace tomorrow
  • 44. How much more will He clothe and provide for you, oh people of little faith!
  • 45. Therefore do not worry yourselves saying “ What will we eat?” and “What will we drink?”
  • 46. for these are things which the pagans seek
  • 47. and your Heavenly Father knows all your needs.
  • 48.  
  • 49. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself.
  • 50. Each day has enough trouble of its own. ”
  • 51. The Word of God. Praise be to God!
