WHAT IS ANDROID? A Software platform and operating systemfor mobile. Based on the Linux kernel. Android was found way back in 2003. It was developed in Palo Alto, California. Android was developed by the AndyRubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and ChrisWhite. Android was purchased by the GOOGLEin AUGUST,2005 for 50 million $.
  • 3.  It’s consortium of several companies. This group of companies are allowed to usesource code of Android and developapplications. Reason for Nokia not to develop AndroidMobiles is Nokia is not part of OHA.

FEATURES OF ANDROIDInterface that is better then the previoustouch screen mobiles.User gets millions of applications that usercan not get in any other mobile operatingsystem. Android supports advanced audio/video/stillmedia formats such as MPEG-4, H.264, MP3, and AAC, AMR, JPEG, PNG, GIF. Developing an android application is nottough using SDK(standard developmentkit) and java emulator we can easilydevelop applications that we want.

  • 25.  Android is now stepping up in next level ofmobile internet. There are chances of Android Mobile salesbecomes more then iPhone in next twoyears. Google may launch another version ofandroid that starts K because Google islaunching all the android versions in thealphabetical order. There are chances of Android may becomethe widely used operating system in world.
