Marketing has evolved rapidly over the last few years.
Most businesses now have their own website
Some of them have been optimized to appear at the head of the search results when people are searching for their services in their local area
Those that are not, should be!
See www.textwizards.co.uk to find out how we can help you if your website is not driving the new business that it should be.
there is a new form of marketing
more powerful even than the internet.
And the chances are that you and your competitors are not using this new wave of marketing in your businesses.
They have it with them all the time.
And when it rings or beeps, they look at it straight away to see what's happening.
Just about everybody has one.
Of course, it is the mobile phone.
In fact, mobile is bigger than Google and Facebook… Combined!
In the UK, over 50% of the population has a mobile phone !
70% of people search for local services on their mobile phones.
Enquiries from mobile users are 3 times more likely to result in a sale than enquiries from a computer!
73% of mobile phone users actually WANT to receive offers and coupons on their mobiles (most emails with the same offers would end up in the Delete folder!).
95% of SMS text messages are opened and read compared to around 10% of emails!
And TEXT marketing messages have a higher open and read rate than ANY other message delivery system… bar none!
At any given time, 46% of people on social media sites are accessing it through a mobile device.
Google says that 30% of all searches are now made on mobile devices .
Given the earlier stat that mobile users are 3 times more likely to buy, you should sit up and take notice!
Hopefully a light bulb has just switched on in your head and you are beginning to see just how powerful a medium mobile is for marketing.
If you thought the internet was big, this is set to completely dwarf it. And get this last statistic…
Less than 5% of businesses have used mobile in their marketing strategy!
Get a step ahead of your competition and implement a mobile marketing strategy right now!
Just imagine for a minute that you were one of the internet pioneers. It’s easy to say after the event, oh, I can’t compete on the internet. There are too many similar websites about. Well, you can compete on the internet, but you can compete even easier on mobile, because there is almost no competition !
So I guess you are now thinking “that’s all well and good, but how do I actually go about using mobile for marketing?”
There are many options available to you and we will cover the most popular and effective methods here.
Just as internet marketers will (or should) tell you “the money is in the list”, the same can now be said about mobile marketing. The only difference is that instead of collecting names and email addresses, you are collecting mobile phone numbers.
In fact, it’s EASIER to do this on mobiles than on the internet!
TEXT MESSAGE MARKETING
You’ll have seen messages like “Text DISCOUNT to 88100 to receive 25% off…..”. What these “savvy” marketers are doing is building a database of the mobile numbers of people interested in their product or service. You can do the same and it’s not as hard – or expensive – as you might think.
Let’s take an example of a beauty salon.
Bookings are down and the next month is looking a bit bleak!
What if you could send a quick text message to all of your existing customers saying “Quote code XYZ when you book before dd/mm/yy and get a free manicure with every hair styling”
Do you think that might bring in a few extra customers? Of course it would.
And it’s easy to set up. All you need to do is hand a card to customers when they pay, and the card might say something like “Text BEAUTY to 88100 to receive special offers and discounts”. Simple, and most people will go ahead and text the message. Everyone loves a discount!
Let’s say now you run a restaurant. It’s the quietest night you’ve had in ages. So you send a quick text message out to your existing customers saying “Tonight only, show this to your waitress and get a free bottle of wine when you order 2 main courses”, or “Buy 1 main course, 1 child eats free. Tonight only!”
You’re going to get customers in who want to take advantage of your offer
And it doesn’t have to be just new customers. Use “conventional” advertising cleverly. Normally you’d run an ad in the local paper saying “come to our restaurant, it’s great and you can get a free glass of wine with every main course” – I know, it’s a bad ad, but bear with me.
If people take you up on the offer, great, you get a customer.
If you say in your ad “Text MEALDEAL to 88100 to receive a free glass of wine with your meal” you not only get new customers, you get their mobile number so you can contact them when you have that quiet night!
Oh yes, and guess what. Text messages are VIRAL. You will get a few people telling their friends about the offer, so you’ll get their details to!
You’ve seen these before I know but maybe didn’t realize that Its a Quick Response (QR) Code
Simply put, a QR Code is a 2 dimensional bar code.
If you have a smart phone, the chances are you have a QR Reader application on in. And if you don’t there are loads out there that you can get for your iPhone, Android etc.
QR CODE ADVERTISING
QR Codes are MASSIVE in Japan. You will hardly ever see an advertisement without a QR code on it.
If you use a QR Reader to view this code, here’s what you see….
You will see the Mobile version of this page…
First you need to know what they can be used for. Well, a QR Code can contain a URL (link to your website), it could contain a vCard, or a phone number, or plain text, or even an SMS text message.
So, how can you use these QR Codes to help your business?
Estate Agents could add a QR Code to their For Sale signs which takes the user straight to the property listing on their website! No need to forget phone numbers or web addresses.
Car dealers could put QR Codes on their vehicles on the forecourt. Even at night or when the dealership is unattended, people could instantly access the specifications of the car.
Here are a few examples of how you could use them to market your business…
Coupons for ANY business. Just as we said you can use text messages to send out coupons for a free glass of wine or a free pedicure you can do the same with QR Codes. Or, have them on your menu outside the restaurant so people can easily access your menu.
Use QR Codes that direct people to leave a review of your business! Reviews are IMPORTANT in this social world, both on the internet and on mobiles.
Basically, pretty much anything that can be delivered in digital format could be accessed by using a QR code – Text, Images, Videos, vCards…..
And you can put them anywhere you can print! A restaurant could put them on the bill, or print them on to napkins. You can use them on business cards. Put them in your shop window. Get a car sign with a QR Code.
These are just a few examples, but using a bit of imagination, you can see how QR Codes can really help in the mobile world we live in
Does that sound scary? Well don’t let the thought of mobile apps scare you. It’s a lot easier and cheaper to create a mobile app than you might have thought.
An app could be a menu with a daily special, or a price list, Maybe a car dealer would have a list of the cars in stock with photos and specifications .
Apps are relatively cheap and easy to have created and in addition to the functions they provide, the fact that your business has an app gives it credibility!
I couldn’t finish without discussing mobile enabled websites. If you have a mobile with a web browser, just take a moment to type in the web address and see how your business looks on a mobile phone. Is it a shrunken down version of the web based site. Do you have to scroll left and right to see the contents of a page. Do you have videos on the that are not displaying (mobiles generally don’t display Flash Videos)? Can you click on the links, or do you have to zoom in to be able to touch on a link?
Mobile websites should be simple. They should have big finger-friendly links or buttons. If your website does not display properly on a mobile device, you are missing out on potential clients.
The thing is, it’s easily remedied and you don’t have to pay thousands in design. Like I said, mobile websites should be simple.
A simple header graphic, big menu buttons and short, concise content.
There will be aspects of mobile marketing that I haven’t covered. That’s because the potential is so vast, it would be foolish of me to try. But I hope you can see from this short report that you should be incorporating mobile into your marketing strategy.
And of course, if you would like to find out more, you can contact “Text Wizard Marketing “We’ll be happy to formulate and implement a mobile marketing campaign for you.
