  2. 2. Warming Up <ul><li>Dear, friends! Last week a very interesting and significant letter was delivered to our school. It is from the local Literary Society of Perm. Here it is on the table. We read the content of the letter. The representatives of the Literary Society make a request for writing poetry about nature as they lack them and few writers devote theirs works to nature. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>So, boys and girls, are you ready to help them? </li></ul><ul><li>Do you think that our nature should be protected? </li></ul><ul><li>What should be done for it? </li></ul><ul><li>Do you think that a beautiful poetry </li></ul><ul><li>will help to prevent people from nature destruction? </li></ul><ul><li>I absolutely agree with you. </li></ul><ul><li>Well, let’s start our work. But first of all, let’s read what Englishmen write about their nature. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Presentation <ul><li>Water </li></ul><ul><li>Pure, miraculous </li></ul><ul><li>Provides, saves, inspires </li></ul><ul><li>It gives me life </li></ul><ul><li>Nature </li></ul>
  5. 5. Did you enjoy the poem? Is it nice? Good. So do Englishmen like and respect their nature? How do you know it?
  6. 6. Training <ul><li>Now look at the poem attentively? Isn’t it strange for you? </li></ul><ul><li>Right you are! It’s cinquain. Look at its structure. What is there in the first line? </li></ul><ul><li>Yes, that’s right. </li></ul><ul><li>The first line consists of one word expressed by a noun. And in our case the topic is WATER. </li></ul><ul><li>Let’s read the second. </li></ul><ul><li>Yes, that’s correct. The theme of the poem is described by two adjectives. What are they? </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>The 3rd line? </li></ul><ul><li>Yes, it is the description of the action within the framework of the theme using three verbs. What are the verbs? </li></ul><ul><li>Right! </li></ul><ul><li>In the 4th line we write a phrase of 4 words concerning the topic. To be more exact, the author express his attitude toward the topic. </li></ul><ul><li>And what is his attitude? </li></ul><ul><li>Correct! </li></ul><ul><li>And then the last line which consists of one general word. The synonym to the first word of the poem, your association with it. What is it? </li></ul>
  8. 8. Reconstruction <ul><li>Now think and say to me what your poems can be devoted to? </li></ul><ul><li>What adjectives and verbs can we use speaking about nature and environment in general? Lets put everything down in order it will help you to write your own poems. </li></ul><ul><li>Thus, the topic which you will write about . </li></ul><ul><li>Adjectives are wonderful, clear, … </li></ul><ul><li>Verbs are provide, supply,… </li></ul><ul><li>Your attitude to the topic: it gives me life </li></ul><ul><li>Associations are nature, life,… </li></ul>
  9. 9. “ Our Fragile World ” Associations Beauty, anticipation, inspiration, freedom, love, happiness, etc. Verbs Support , induce, enrich, improve, feed, bring up, breed, etc. Topic The sun, the earth, water, air, land, etc. Adjectives Beautiful, fascinating, captivating, charming, crystal, round, etc. Attitude I like it greatly; we will protect nature; it makes me happy, etc.
  10. 10. A Creative Letter <ul><li>And now lets write your own poems. Choose any word connected with nature and describe it using our cluster. </li></ul><ul><li>Remember: you should follow all the rules of writing the cinquains. </li></ul><ul><li>And don’t forget that your poetry will be sent to the Literary Society, so try to do your best. I am sure every one will cope with the task. I believe it. I give you 10 minutes. </li></ul>
