This is not a time for falsemodesty, so dont be afraid to highlight yourprofessional strengths and play down yourterrible typing skills. Remember: its no bragif its the truth. The more youpractice, the more confident youll be.
Rule No : 5 What is theDevelop your list of questions: favorite color of the CEOYour interview shouldnt be seen as some ????type of interrogation. Its a "getting to knowyou" meeting, so feel free to ask questions.However, your first question shouldnt be"How much do I get paid?" or "Hows the401k plan, here?" Instead, ask questions thatshow you understand the job and thecompanys needs. Be quick to pick up on theinterviewers comments and ask relevantquestions.
Rule No : 6Dress for success.An interview is a performance withpeople playing different roles. Yourrole is successful job prospect. Playthe part. Whether youre female ormale, the conservative business suitis the recommended attire for anyinterview. If your business suit needsa pressing, send it to the drycleaners. If you dont own a suit(youd be surprised at the number ofus who dont) go out and get one. Itdoesnt have to be an $800 designersuit, but it should be conservativeblack, blue or gray.
Rule No : 7Get cut or coiffed :Youll have 15 minutes to make a goodimpression. Treat yourself to a visit to thelocal hair stylist. You bet looks matter.Theyll be plenty of time to show your talentonce you land the job. For now, look like asuccess, feel like a success – be a success.
Rule No :8Practice positive visualization :Professional athletes do it. So do actors, yogainstructors and new age thinkers who sleepunder makeshift pyramids to absorb thatmystical energy. Its called positivevisualization – and it works. It really does. Inthe days leading up to the interview, pictureyourself sitting opposite the head of HR.Picture yourself relaxed, comfortable, at thetop of your game. Play that clip over andover in your mind until it becomes sofamiliar, it actually becomes a part of yourself-image. It simply cant be stated too often– your confidence during an interviewshould be obvious and genuine.
Rule No : 9Gather your materials :The day before the interview, gather yourmaterials and place them in a briefcase or attaché.Dont have one? Buy one or borrow one. Itsanother opportunity to project that professionalimage you wear so well. Bring extra copies of yourresume in a manila envelop. Bring a pad andpencil to take notes. Bring a calculator (you neverknow). Bring your address book and copies ofyour business card. If youve been asked to provideadditional information (school transcripts, e.g.)make sure youve got clean copies ready to handover.

You wont get thejob every time – but dont take it personally. Itsnot about you; its about the needs of thecompany. However, you can increase the chancesof success by presenting a professional, prepared,and confident you to the interviewer. Thats howyou turn an interview into a job offer.
