Mission: Mission Statement: The purpose of the Economic Development Department is to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Corona and promote responsible economic development activities that result in job creation, retention and growth of our existing business community and enhancement of our current tax base through attraction of key business sectors. At all times these efforts will remain focused on insuring the long-term sustainability of the of City of Corona. Economic Development Objectives:
    • Business Attraction
    • Business Retention
    • Technology Implementation
    • Retail Sales Enhancement
  • 3. Background: Team Corona was originally created in the 90’s and had as its sole and exclusive mission to expedite the processes of doing business in the City of Corona. Since that time, Team Corona has become the umbrella for all efforts of the Economic Development Department and more recently, the Internet portal that opens the door to this highly coveted - and often times copied - way of doing business. To that end, the Economic Development Department team utilizes this way of doing business to differentiate Corona from other Inland Empire cities as well as our competitor around the globe. It’s no wonder that Team Corona award-winning business attraction and retention programs have kept Corona well ahead of other Cities in Riverside County.

Business Attraction: Targeted Industry Outreach Direct mail to Targeted Industry Sectors City/Site Tours for relocation prospects Advertising and Promotion Media promotion through focused Press Releases Advertising tied to key Industry Events New Media Implementation Newsletter contact with Key Corona Messaging Web 2.0 presence in key venues Sample Target Industries: Green Technology Engineering & Construction Related Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing – Tech. Related Aerospace & Defense Automotive – Aftermarket & Mfg. General Technology

Business Retention: In-Person site visits of at least 200 existing businesses Complete filed interviews to identify ‘at risk’ businesses Build data base of business data to allow better communication Identify company decision maker to better faciltate assistance Implement Technology and Software Solutions facilitate better communication Track changes using data collected in field interviews Analyze business data to identify expansion candidates Utilize collected data to better implement future retention efforts Partner with other Agencies to bring services and solutions to local business Work with SBA to identify Federal assistance for local business Work with Corona Chamber Commerce to advocate for local business Continued engagement of State Lobbyists for Corona advocacy Continued engagement of Federal Lobbyists for Corona advocacy
