### Newton's 3 Laws and Force

1. 1. What is a Force? A force is a push or pull on an object A force has a size AND a direction Examples of forces: -Pushing your book across a table -Pushing a box
2. 2. Newton’s First Law What is Newton’s 1st law?? • Objects in motion stay in motion • Objects at rest stay at rest
3. 3. Force is equal to an object’s mass times its acceleration maf  Newton’s Second Law m = 1000 kg a = 0.05 f = ??? f = 50 N
4. 4. Newton’s Third Law All forces exist in pairs (pair = 2) For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction THERE CANNOT BE ONE FORCE
