  2. 2. What is the Difference Between a Fruit and a Vegetable? Basically, they grow(mature) differently You usually do not eat the entire vegetable (only the root, stem, leaves, etc.) Fruits are usually sweet, while vegetables are savory. Name some Fruits!!!!

  6. 6. FRUITS IN FLORIDAWhat fruits are grown in Florida? Oranges, Bananas, Strawberries, Blueberries, Grapes, Tomatoes* and many others.Some cool fruits grown in Florida: Coconuts, Dragon fruits, Lychee, Guava*Tomatoes are totally a FRUIT!
  7. 7. SUPER COOL FRUITS Pineapples! •Every pineapple plant only produces one pineapple every two years(it takes about 18 months for a pineapple to fully grow) •Eating unripe pineapples could be poisonous!
  8. 8. SUPER COOL FRUITS Guava’s are originally from Central America You can eat the seeds! There are over 150 different types- Chinese Guava, Strawberry, Lemon, Apple, and Mountain Guava. They have FOUR TIMES the Vitamin C of an orange (and 70 times the fiber).
  9. 9. SUPER COOL FRUITS Coconuts can be called fruits, nuts, or seeds They have three layers on the outside, with the woody layer the ones at the store have being the innermost one Shake it! There is coconut water inside, along with fleshy meat that can be eaten.
  10. 10. SUPER COOL FRUITS Asian pears are called apple pears because thy look like apples In Chinese legends, the pear was a symbol of IMMORTALITY, and in Japan they were said to ward off evil Being allergic to pears is really rare.
  11. 11. SUPER COOL FRUITS Papayas are filled with black, edible seeds that can be ground up and used as pepper Papayas contain papain, an enzyme that can be used to help cuts, burns and rashes Papaya trees are often 20 FEET TALL and the fruits can be from 1 to 20 pounds.
  12. 12. SUPER COOL FRUITS Jackfruit is from Southeast Asia, but it now grows in any tropical area- including South Florida! The average size is about 3 FEET LONG, OVER A FOOT WIDE, AND FORTY TO FIFTY POUNDS. The yellow fruit is eaten raw, while the seeds an be boiled like peanuts

  14. 14. SUPER COOL FRUITS Persimmons are in season during the fall and winter, and can live in temperatures of zero degrees. The bark of the tree can get sunburned in the hot summer sun. The fruit can be squares, spheres, look like an acorn, and many other shapes.
