4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?
1. Research: During the process of constructing the film we had to do some research. This is because we were not entirely sure what type of film we should make, therefore; we were confused in deciding what genre are film should fall under. Whilst researching we were able to answer the questions using the different sources of technologies such as:
We used the website survey monkey to create questionnaires for our target audience, to find out what type of genre our film should fall under. This was very useful as we were able to use it to come to the conclusion of using the story line of ‘The ring’ as the structure of our storyline and we used the film ‘Scary Movie’.
The Internet Movie Database: We also used this website to research films that are of the same genre as our film; this website helped us closely to look at films such as ‘The Ring’, ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Shaun of the Dead’. This website was very useful as it had a lot of information on the films listed above.
You Tube Another website that we used was the website ‘You Tube’, this helped us in learning the different camera techniques and how to operate the camera. This also very useful as we were able to read the comments on the films we used in structuring the storyline of our film. On the right are some of the comments you tube users commented on the trailer of ‘Scary Movie 1’
2. Planning: After obtaining useful information from researching we then had to plan the construction of the film. This included the storyline, the scheduling of the film, the creation of important documents and the distribution of the different roles amongst the group. This was all done using the following media technology:
Microsoft Word We used one of the Microsoft packages to type up the storyline, and create the schedule to filming. We also used this software to type up important documents such as actor agreement forms and the risk assessment forms. This software was very well and contributed a lot to the planning of the film.
Facebook The social network ‘Facebook’ was very helpful as it allowed the group members to be in contact with each other. Along with that it allowed us to perform primary research as we were able to post the final copy of our film and read the comments commented by other Facebook users. On the right are some of the few comments received of the film.
3. Construction: After the completion of research and planning we now had to begin with constructing the final product. During the process of constructing the film we had to learn how to use the different types of software's and these are the following that we used :
Camera We used a Canon Movie Camera to film our movie, to make our storyline come alive.
Final Cut This is the software we used to construct the final film. Live Type This is the software we used to create the text in our film.
Adobe Photo-Shop We used this software to create the poster of our film. Recording Studio We used the recording studio to record our radio trailer.
4.Evaluation: After we finished filming our film we began evaluating the film. This was done by showing the film to a focus group. We also done this through Facebook.
Blogspot This is the website we used to show the processing of the final product.
