    If history repeats, we can expect a tech bubble in NASDAQ in the next 2-3 years.
    Vietnam may lag behind 1-2 years. A tech bubble may be fall in 2015-2016.
    Investors should invest now and exit before the next tech bubble bursts.

    • In 2008, there were only two active VC: IDG Ventures Vietnam and DFJ Vietnam (managed by VinaCapital).
    • In 2011, besides the incumbent IDGVV & DFJV, CyberAgent (Japan) is being very aggressive in investing in web and mobile technology startups. Other firms including CMC and vatgia also reserve their fund for investing in young enterprises. For the first time in Vietnam, professional angel investors emerge.
    • Professional incubators are also established. 5Desire, V!Combinator, assisting young startup teams. Launch, a networking and knowledge sharing group is active on FB. Some groups also copy TechCrunch's startup event organization. Stanford prof & students run a program to assist startups in Vietnam, this program is managed by VYE. Savvi
    Service Providers are now more mature
    In 2008, Vinagame was not having a clear vision where they were heading. At one time, they had apprximately 15 web projects running concurrently. In 2011, the company is a multiple hundred million business and has a clear strategy: social platform and mobile internet.
    In 2008, FPT Online tested the market with Visky.Vitalk, the mobile chat app, became the most profitable. In 2011, the company has a vision of its e-citizen and social platform banbe.net. The social music site nhacso.info is also revamped.
    In 2008, everyone started afresh. In 2011, market leader positions can be identified in each niche market
    The big-4 in Vietnam web market: VNG, VCCorp, VTC, FPT Online
    PeaceSoftis the leader in C2C payment
    FPT Online secures the leading position in online media (newspaper)
    VNG is the leader in social network
    In 2010 and 2011, Groupon clones have boosted the e-commerce industry in Vietnam
    Many users now are used to buying online
    Users are educated on e-payment methods
    Attention from media to e-commerce

    Emergence of Ecosystem
    • Social Platforms emerge, where third-party services can plug to the platform.
    • E-commerce and e-payment are linked to the experience of users: they shop and pay for items online while surfing through their social networks.
    • Users real identity are tracked and kept in ID services. Data mining is then executed to determine the best advertising and product recommendation.
    • Viral tools provide traffic referral and widespread of the contents.
    • The services come in three forms: the web, mobile web (through mobile browser), and mobile application.
    • The whole ecosystems are supported by strong media. Financial Times, Forbes and Fortune have featured articles on Vietnam alongside local media.
