  • 2. This is me. This was a very long time ago.
  • 3. These are my parents.
    Mom is a hair dresser.
    Dad is a sheet metal worker.
  • 4. As far back as I can remember, I asked for a piano.
    Can I please have a piano?
  • 5. As far back as I can remember, I asked for a piano.

  • 7. I am a very squeaky wheel.
  • 8. I also took dance as a child.
  • 9.
  • 10. But I didn’t really dance.
  • 11. I played with strange things.

  • 13. People noticed.
  • 14. I stopped doing homework.
  • 15. Are you sure you don’t have any homework?
    I stopped doing homework.
  • 16. POSITIVE!
    I stopped doing homework.
  • 17. I switched schools.
  • 18. I switched schools.
    No more uniforms!
  • 19. My new school had choir, so I didn’t have to pretend to dance!
  • 20. I stopped playing with weird things.
  • 21. Well, at least at school.
  • 22. I once again did my homework.
  • 23. Mostly.
  • 24. But I remembered how to work hard.
  • 25. I graduated within the top 10 of my class.
  • 26. After high school, I went to Oakland University to study music education.
  • 27. It didn’t take long for me to realize that friends are better than coffee.
  • 28. Graduation was here again in no time.
  • 29. Graduation was here again in no time.
    Magna Cum Laude!
  • 30. My passion and current job is teaching elementary music.
  • 31. One of my goals is to have a classroom where everyone belongs…
  • 32. Whether they play with glue,
  • 33. Sing too loud,
  • 34. Or need homework reminders.
  • 35. It helps to have lessons the kids want to do.
    The xylophone is mine!
    I get the drum!
    I want the guiro!
    Can I please have a piano?
  • 36. To make sure my lessons are things students want to do, my next goal is to add more technology components to my lessons.
  • 37. It is a great tool to access the world around us.
  • 38. It is also an inexhaustible resource of ways to reach my students, and effectively engage and assess them.
  • 39. In order to improve my teaching and maximize the impact of my subject matter on students, technology is the method I would like to explore.
